WELCOME TO BEYOND THE SURFACE
I'm excited to finally introduce Beyond the Surface Dock Diving Clinics.
I created Beyond the Surface around one simple idea
Dock diving is about more than the jump.
It's easy to look at a number on the board and focus on how far a dog jumped, how high they grabbed or how fast they completed a retrieve. But those numbers only tell us the result and typical don’t maintain longevity.
I want to teach you how to get consistent results through proper training.
Because every dog is different. Every handler is different. And the answer isn't simply throwing the toy farther.
FOUNDATION • COMMUNICATION • TECHNIQUE • RESULTS
Beyond the Surface clinics are designed around the individual team. Whether you are brand new to the dock, trying to solve a specific problem, chasing more consistency or competing at an advanced level, my goal is to understand the team in front of me and help you understand the fundamental that make good practice which then gets you consistently good scores.
Clinics are intentionally kept small, with a maximum of 10 working teams per day, so I can work individually with every dog and handler.
Each working team receives two individualized working sessions each day, but this is a full-day clinic experience. Some of the most valuable learning happens while watching other dogs, discussing what we're seeing, troubleshooting problems and understanding why something works for one team but may not work for another. Although each day includes 2 sessions, we will get the work done that is needed.
I have had the opportunity to train hundreds of dogs in dock diving over the decade and a half. Each dog has taught me so much. Now I want to share this information with you.
All experience levels and teams from all dock-diving organizations are welcome.
The 2027 Beyond the Surface Clinic Series begins in late 2026 and will travel to host locations around the country.
This Page is where I'll share clinic dates, host locations, registration information, availability and everything happening along the way.
I'm looking forward to working with old friends, meeting new teams and, most importantly, getting Beyond the Surface of what makes each dog and handler work together.
More Than a Jump.
