Happy Fall, yâall! đđ´
Here in Kentucky, weâre in the middle of my favorite season in the Thoroughbred industry! So much is going onâthe Keeneland Fall Meet is here, the yearling sales are underway, young racehorses are beginning their training under saddle, and layups and turnouts are getting settled into their spots for winter.
To me, itâs a magical time filled with so much excitement and possibility.
Itâs also a time that reminds me just how important it is to stay mindful and intentional in our work with horses. The choices we make for them nowâespecially when theyâre youngâhelp shape the trajectory of their racing careers and their lives beyond the racetrack.
Knowing when to ask for a little more and when to give them space is such an important part of working with young horses. That knowing comes from watching, feeling, listening, and respondingâbeing deeply aware and present with the horse in front of you, even in the midst of all the excitement around us.
That kind of presence is where horsemanship and mindfulness have always come together for me. And itâs why I deeply value the blend of working with horses and sharing mindfulness practices here at Redbird Equine.
As we head into the fall and winter season, I invite you to explore the equine side of Redbird Equine. We have a couple of spots available in our barn for layup or training, and weâd love to welcome horses and owners who share our mindful approach to horsemanship.
If youâd like to learn more and see if our approach might be a good fit for you and your horse, visit our website or reach out to me directly. Iâd love to chat with you about your horse and the individualized care and attention we provide to those who come into our barn.
