Hi fellow, animal-people. My family and I have been fostering a dog since July and she is wonderful 😍.
About her: Addie is 8 months old, an Aries, and a Lover with a capital - L.
She is a one of a kind dog- even putting my bias aside. What makes her so unique? She loves to play in the morning and in the evening. She lets you know it’s playtime by picking up one of her toys and carrying them over to you. If you don’t pick up on the hint, she’s patiently nuzzle it near your hand until you catch on. Her favorite games are tug of war (or tug-a-rug as my toddler calls it) and fetch.
What else makes her unique? She’s a genius. Addie drinks a lot more water than my 8 year old dog does and it took me a while to catch on to her water habits (reminder: she’s the genius- not me). How did Addie work around this? She walked into the kitchen, put her paw on our water spout and got herself a drink.
Because of her sturdy size, Addie is happy to be a real life pillow pet. She’ll let you rest her head on her, she lets kids nap on her (and sit on her) without any distress.
I’m also fairly certain she meditates. When we go for a walk and spot a deer, does she do what most dogs do and get ready for a chase? Oh, no. Not Addie. Addie pauses, stares at the deer, and then finds a cozy spot to sit or lay (not joking) so she can peacefully observe them until then they leave. [Note: Addie does look strikingly like a deer, so I often wonder if she’s reminded of her mom back in Mississippi].
Who Addie is for:
Addie is perfect for a family or solo adult that can dedicate an hour combo of play and walk time in the morning and in the evening.
- Kids ages 10+
- Cats are okay but will need proper introduction (we have two cats and they get along mostly well)
- Dogs! Other dogs are a plus but not necessary
Who Addie is not for:
-Households with kids under 8
-People who are uninterested in play/walks
-A Christmas or Hanukkah present
Addie is a Labrador mix. This means her temperament will be perfect for a therapy dog, life long best friend once she hits two years old. All she needs is a healthy adult to help guide her through her remaining 6-8 months of puppyhood.
I’m working with her rescue (Second Chance Rescue NYC) to help find her forever home and I’ll provide all necessary info and introductions to any good candidates.
She’s honestly the sweetest and if she was 2+ or if my kids were older, this post wouldn’t exist because I would be snatching her up for myself.
