Norwegian Elkhund, it's not a hound class dog, hund in Norg means dog. It's an Elk Dog, a hunter of large game. Hounds make kills, Spitz class like the Elkhund, corner and hold.
The dog automatically deploys this feature in protection of it's assigned perimeter. You the owner requires only to have the slightest discipline in your life, and this dog will pay you everyday by watching your property and protecting your loved ones.
At 55 lbs as their max. weight they hardly eat but a $150 a month of the finest food you can find.
With some heel & command training they can join your daily life with no leash, eager to obey their human companion. Never met a dog more eager to serve the human companion. They can go to stores, sit & stay anywhere you put them, and have the most pleasant appearance, leaving a trail of lovers and folks who want to hug and play if allowed.
You can also request the dog to engage or disengage with your environment. Which means when your Elkie is with you, your basically untouchable.
