UPDATE: The geese are in good hands now at Back to the Wild.

Looking for a wildlife enthusiast to transport two Canada geese to Back to the Wild in Castalia this afternoon. This one was brought in last night after hours and, by happenstance, a second one was brought in this morning with injuries sustained by flying into Ritter Public Library. Please call us at 440-967-VETS if you can provide transportation for these beautiful birds.

Judy, Payten & Katie are introducing Daisy, Cookie & Toby (L to R). These sweet dogs belonged to Chuck & Linda who, sadly, had to give them up for health reasons. Daisy is a 9-y/o F(S) ShihTzu/Bichon, Cookie is a 7-y/o F(S) Cavapoo & Toby is a M(N) Maltipoo turning 3 next month. All have had wonderful care and are current on vaccinations and parasite prevention. They are currently trained to piddle pads, but we have been working on housebreaking. Per our agreement with Chuck & Linda, a committee has been formed to find the perfect home for each/all of these dogs. PLEASE SHARE! Does anyone recognize or have any information at all on these two sweet (and scared) little dogs? They were wandering on and near Poorman Road in Vermilion Township for several days; as of today they are staying at the clinic. They were not wearing collars when apprehended. While both are microchipped, that is not proving to be helpful in locating their owner(s) since the brand of the chips appears to be Save This Life. That’s the microchip company that suddenly went defunct last year, leaving their database inaccessible and their chips untraceable.

UPDATE: His name is “Benny” and he has been reunited with his people! They were camping at Riverview RV Park & Marina on Vermilion Road, and headed back home to Grafton today. Unbeknownst to them, Benny jumped out the back window of the truck as they went down the hill, but they didn’t discover he was missing until they got home. We xrayed his lame leg and found no fractures. He is one lucky and happy beagle! (See photo in comments.)

As always, there are lessons to be learned here. 🐾 Don’t forget to keep your contact information for your pet’s microchip up-to-date. 🐾 And always be sure that your vehicle windows are not open wide enough to allow your pet egress!

Whose beagle? Neutered male, found sitting at the bottom of the big hill on Vermilion Road wearing a black harness and leash. Microchip was traced to Friendship APL, which adopted him out fairly recently to someone in the Grafton area (first name Lynn). We left a message at one of the phone numbers provided by 24Petwatch; the other number has been disconnected. Thank you Robin for bringing in this sweet boy.
