UPDATE: The cat was released last week to Friendship Animal Protective League. As Lorain County’s largest animal shelter, Friendship APL handles stray cats as well as dogs, and employs humane officers with law enforcement power under Ohio statutes to deal with neglected and abandoned animals.

ADDENDUM: For those who apparently misunderstood this post, or have no idea about the services we routinely provide for feral cats and kittens:
(1) The cat is currently receiving palliative care here until, hopefully, we learn more about her situation.
(2) We understand that veterinary care is expensive, like everything else these days, and we do our best to help defray expenses, provide Good Sam services and products, etc.
(3) In the past year we have rehabilitated and adopted out many cats (and dogs) which were surrendered by their owners for euthanasia, or found roaming loose. Several were posted on this page.
(4) When animals are dropped off anonymously, we have no idea as to (a) their medical history; (b) whether they are owned or stray; (c) whether they may have bitten someone in the past 10 days; or (d) in some cases, whether their owners are aware that someone without legal standing is attempting to have their pets destroyed (which unfortunately happens more often than one might think).
(5) Our veterinarians are required by law to “make a reasonable attempt to communicate with the animal’s owner, agent or the owner or person presenting the animal if the owner is unknown, prior to euthanasia or disposal.” Ohio Revised Code 4729.532 (Hence this post.)
We currently have a total of 8 rescued cats/kittens here in need of homes for anyone interested.

There is a legal process which needs to be followed when euthanizing animals. This includes signed written consent from the owner or legal agent, animal identification, and other details. Will the individuals in this Chevy Cruze who dropped off this cat at 6:47 this morning please call us to discuss? She is not microchipped.
