Those sudden bursts of running, spinning, jumping, & general chaos are called “zoomies”—or more formally, FRAPs (Frenetic Random Activity Periods)

Common reasons dogs get them:
Excitement, Stress relief, Releasing pent-up energy, After eliminating (urinating, defecating), Play and happiness

All a common and usually positive behavior 🐾

Dogs stare at their people for lots of reasons, and most of them are completely normal.

They want something

They’re checking in with you

They’re showing affection

They’re trying to understand you

They may be anticipating a routine

Pay attention to the kind of stare -

A relaxed body, soft eyes, loose tail, and normal ears usually means they’re comfortable and engaged with you.

A hard, intense stare accompanied by stiffness, freezing, growling, lip lifting, or guarding something is different and can indicate discomfort, fear, or resource guarding.

Cats playing with water from the faucet can look hilarious, but there are actually several good reasons behind that behavior! There are actually a few reasons! 🐾

💧 Moving water grabs their attention and sparks curiosity.
🐭 The unpredictable drops can trigger their natural prey drive.
👂 The sound of running water is stimulating to their sensitive hearing.
🚰 Some cats prefer moving water because it seems fresher and more interesting than a bowl.
🧠 And splashing, pawing, and chasing water is great mental enrichment!

So the next time your cat demands the faucet… they may just be saying, “Turn on my entertainment!” 🐱💦

Adding in distractions can translate big time into real world scenarios

Dogs don’t automatically understand that a behavior learned at home applies everywhere. A dog may have a fantastic sit, stay, recall, or loose-leash walk in the house, but a squirrel, another dog in view or barking, a bicycle, or a new environment can completely change the picture.

Check out Franklin’s “place” outside with the sounds of other dogs, birds, a snake slithering in the back ground and a vulnerable outdoor environment.

Enrichment doesn't need a Pinterest board or a $40 puzzle feeder — it's genuinely everywhere once you start looking at the world through your dog or cat's senses instead of your own. That mindset shift is the whole game: any object, texture, sound, or scent your pet hasn't fully explored is a chance for enrichment, and pairing it with positive reinforcement and a high-value treat is what makes it stick as a good experience instead of just novelty.

Sophie did a little bit of work and a whole lot of play. Today was her first day of exploring these options and she decided she enjoyed/got the most out of 4 of them. Did you know that puzzle toys help boost confidence problem solving, relieve anxiety, prevents destructive behavior and provides mental stimulation? All of these are really great reasons to incorporate enrichment and puzzle toys into your pets routine.
