i know this isnt all hand worked iron, but it fits with what i like to do. make cool stuff. i hope ya'll enjoy some of the things coming down the line. sorry for the long absence

with it being too dry around the forge, i shifted gears a bit. my first river end table. 12x24x30inches tall. tall enough to go over the arm of the couch. the wood is a piece of white oak cut in half and flipped around so the live edge is inside. its just over an inch and a half thick with a 3/16x1.5 border. the legs are 3/4 inch square tubing with some 3/8 tubing going through.

the bowls are from and apple burl. i turned them on a small 10x18 wood lathe with some epoxy to fill the voids. the bowl on the left is going to my wifes mother. it was a bit tricky seems i am very new to wood turning. but it came out pretty good i think. it can sit flat against the wall with the front being where the bark used to be. more to come stay tuned

and some chain, made several of these. i made 1 of these for each of the grand kids. each with 3 links and the first letter of their names. its good practice and sometimes it is frustrating, but fun

here ya go. top one is a blade i have worked on here and there for about a year and a half maybe longer. it started life as several pieces of band saw blade. forge welded into a solid piece of steel. the handle is brass and leather with some brown felt. the sheath is for the that blade.

bottom blade is a piece of 1 3/8 logging cable forge welded into one piece of steel. stabilized oak handle. still to come for that is a sheath.

mini bowie. from a piece of an old farriers rasp. 6 inches overall, blade 3,5 inches handle 2.5 inches. handle is micarta, blade is heat treated and sharp. this needs bit more handle but it was fun. maybe a small sheath, maybe a neck knife, maybe it should be black. idk

so my forging was pretty limited yesterday. had to work on the pickup a little. i had to change the alternator friday morning only to find i had got a bad alternator. so tracing all the connections to make sure there wasnt a deeper lying issue while waiting on another part. but all should be good to go with it now.

here is a small slab for the bench i am starting. it is part of a much larger slab from Ralph. white oak in an epoxy. the legs were started and need to be finished, a slight taper to the foot and another taper and a scroll for the foot. more pics to come.

and the next 2 pictures are of the newest addition to the family. this old girl should bring many years of happiness to the forge. she weighs in roughly at 170lbs. she was born in 1918. she will get cleaned up with the wire brush and get a bath in linseed oil to keep her beautiful.

did a little catch up today. tried to connect with the customer but he had some errands to run. so maybe we can meet up and test fit the curtain rod holders tomorrow. i had a little time before i called it a day and played a little with the new tig welder and my new Jackson welding helmet. its a whole new world under a decent helmet. so i ordered a couple of these little cube things to check them out, they are kinda cool. they come in a 2 inch x 1/8 inch 6 pieces and you weld them together. this is the first one i have done. im a little rusty with the tig torch but it will come back, just takes some time. this little cube is 2 inches square. it was fun to do. stay tuned, next week has the finished curtain rod holders and a special piece to hold an orb of sorts.
