On October 12, 1492, after sailing across the Atlantic Ocean, Christopher Columbus and his expedition reached an island in what we now know as The Bahamas.
The Indigenous Lucayan people who lived there called the island Guanahani.

Introducing our October Employee of the Month — Erin!

Erin brings so much love, joy, and positive energy to Five Points! You can always catch Erin handing out plenty of cuddles, belly rubs, and extra love to our guests.

Erin is also always willing to jump in and lend a hand wherever needed, and that hard work and dedication never goes unnoticed.

Of course, we couldn’t get an Employee of the Month picture without a couple of special guests! Erin is pictured with Bailey, one of our Vass OGs, while Bailey’s sister, Roux, made sure to sneak in a little photobomb! 💚

We’re so grateful to have Erin as part of our Five Points Pet Resort – Vass team and excited to celebrate Erin as our October Employee of the Month!

Follow Through!

“Down… Down… DOWN!” Sound familiar?

When we repeat a command over and over, our dogs can learn that the first one doesn’t really matter.

If you give your dog a command, be prepared to see it through. Give the command once, guide your dog if needed, and make sure they complete what was asked.

Whether it’s Come, Place, Sit, or Stay, consistency teaches your dog that your words have meaning.

💡 Simple Practice Reminder:
Before giving a command, ask yourself:

"Am I ready to follow through?”

If the answer is yes—say it once and see it through.

Say it. Guide it. Follow through.

From October 13–31, our Boo-Bark Mystery Den is opening for a spooky, sniff-filled Halloween adventure!

Your pup will use their nose to sniff, explore, hunt, and solve their way through spooky scent dens filled with Halloween surprises, obstacles, and treats along the way. 🕷️

Includes a scent adventure through our Mystery Den, a Peanut Butter or Pumpkin Kong Treat, and a picture update so you can see your brave little ghost hunter in action!

Consistency Is Everything!

If the rule changes depending on the day, how is your dog supposed to know the rule?
Dogs learn through patterns. If a boundary matters today, it needs to matter tomorrow too.

Allowing a behavior sometimes and correcting it other times sends mixed signals and makes it harder for your dog to understand what you expect.

Clear rules + consistent follow-through = clearer communication.
The little things you practice every day are what create lasting habits.

🌎 WORLD RABIES DAY — SEPTEMBER 28 🌎
Rabies is preventable, and vaccination is one of the most important ways we can protect our pets, our families, and our community. 💚

World Rabies Day is also a great reminder to take a quick look at your pet’s vaccination records and make sure everything is current!

At Five Points Pet Resort, we require the following before your pet’s stay:
🐾 Rabies — must be current
🐾 Distemper — must be current
🐾 Puppies — must have completed their core puppy vaccination series
🐾 Kittens — must have completed their core kitten vaccination series
🐾 Bordetella — highly recommended for dogs

Not sure when your pet’s vaccines expire? Check with your veterinarian before an upcoming boarding, daycare, grooming, or training visit so there are no surprises at check in,

Around here, our bunnies are part of a special group we lovingly call our Pocket Pets! 💚

Did you know Five Points Pet Resort boards more than just dogs and cats?

Our Pocket Pet guests can include rabbits, ferrets, birds, bearded dragons, and other small companion pets.

They may be smaller than some of our other guests, but they come with BIG personalities—and each has their own unique care needs, routines, diets, and favorite ways to feel comfortable.
