This past Wednesday, September 2nd, we had to say goodbye to VC Emma James. She gave us more than 13 years of partnership, loyalty, and adventure. Emma lived a full hunting life — from upland birds and waterfowl to rabbits, squirrels, and deer tracks — and she traveled west with us for 12 years of her life and gave us memories that will last a lifetime.
Emma shaped who we are as dog handlers and hunters. She brought us to NAVHDA, pushed us to learn, and ultimately inspired the creation of Oak Creek Kennel. Her legacy is woven into every dog we train and every memory we carry.
She will be deeply, painfully missed — but her influence will stay with us forever.
