🚨 Common Pet Emergencies You Should Know 🚨
Some pet emergencies can escalate quickly—knowing the signs could save your pet’s life.

Here are just a few conditions that every pet owner should be aware of:
🐱 Male cats: Urethral obstruction (can be fatal if they can’t p*e!)
🐶 Older large breed dogs: Hemangiosarcoma (often found on the spleen)
🐕‍🦺 Unspayed female dogs: Pyometra (a deadly uterine infection)
🐈 Older cats: Saddle thrombus/FATE (sudden hind limb paralysis)
🐾 Deep-chested dogs (like Great Danes): Bloat/GDV (a twisted stomach that requires immediate surgery)

🩺 If you notice any sudden changes in your pet’s behavior—especially pain, weakness, or distress—seek emergency care immediately.

At VRA, our emergency and specialty teams are trained to respond fast and treat these conditions with expert care.

We are looking for some Newspaper Donations!

We use newspapers that are donated to us for lining the cages for the pets we see in the clinic. It helps to make the bottom of our kennels not as slippery in addition to the blankets we give them.

Unfortunately - we are running VERY low on our supply and are turning to the community for help!

So if you get the newspaper and typically toss it away or recycle it - We would LOVE to have it here at the clinic!

If anyone has any laying around that you're done looking at, please feel free to drop them off with us here! We'll put them to good use!

We appreciate any and all of your help (so do the fur babies)!

Please feel free to spread the word 😊

***ATTENTION CLIENTS***

A mass email was sent out but we also wanted to let everyone know here as well.

Our main phone line (ending in 4350) is failing us. When calling in - the phone *may* let us answer but then shortly disconnect us without warning. We unfortunately have ZERO control over it and have been dealing with Verizon constantly.

If you need to reach us - please try calling 804-795-4351 first. Its our second line and so far has no issues.
Unfortunately, due to us not being able to "turn off" line one - if we are on with another caller on line 2, you will be rolled over to line one automatically. We will answer & if the phone disconnects, we will call you back ASAP once line 2 is available to avoid another disconnect.

We apologize profusely about this and are trying our best to manage it while still dealing with Verizon.

Thank you to everyone for your patience & understanding.

We are asking to bear with us during this time and if able, please come after 1pm to pick up any medications or food items. Our phones will be working fine - just a loss of computer access.
