Morning report from Saffron:
The grounds have been inspected, and perimeter has been secured. The wildlife remains suspicious and chickens even moreso.
Ghost has been running laps around the yard at approximately the speed of light this morning while I supervise and truly question his life choices. I have had to referee wrestling between the boys here a few times since dawn.
Overall, operations are proceeding normally.

Some days are just hard. You somehow get through them and finally make it home completely exhausted.
Then you go out to put the chickens to bed, and a tiny chicken decides to hop onto your shoulder, climb onto your head, and just exist there while you giggle.
No agenda. No expectations. No demands. No deadlines.
Just Riot.
Riot Chicken reminding me that sometimes the best thing you can do is stop for a moment, stand in the chicken run, and let a tiny feathered munchkin convince you that everything is going to be okay.
I'm not saying Riot is a therapy chicken, but I definitely felt a whole lot better afterward.

Just a quick reminder that Rachel has been busy spending some time with her family, so communication may be a little slower than usual.
Don't worry!
While my own family is away, I have stepped in to supervise all operations. So far I've inspected the yard several times, monitored some very suspicious wildlife activity, hollered at the resident dogs over their shenanigans, but confirmed that everyone actually is doing a pretty acceptable job overall here.
Thank you for your patience while Rachel takes a little time for the humans in her life that really need her.

I got to meet Louie the Golden Retriever last night and we had a blast together!
We focused on foundation skills that help build communication, engagement, and reliability in everyday life. While the flashy stuff sure is fun, the basics are what everything is built on. Attention, responsiveness, reinforcement history, clarity, and clear communication all matter so much more than many people realize!
Louie caught on quickly, stayed engaged, and brought plenty of enthusiasm to the session. He is a sweet, thoughtful young dog with a lot of potential!
And you know... when your student looks a bit like walking marshmallow fluff, it sure makes a training sessions pretty enjoyable!

While I was busy tending chickens early this morning, Tiangou was busy with his very important construction project, which may have been further inspired by me completing the Muddy Princess race on Sunday.
Thanks to last night's heavy storms, he managed to expand his under-deck excavation efforts greatly, decorating himself with several golf ball-sized mud clumps throughout his fur, even hanging from his ears!
I did not take before photos, but he was bathed and brushed and is looking super dapper now!
