🐱💧Why a High-Moisture Diet Matters for Cats
Did you know that cats naturally have a relatively low thirst drive? Because of this, many cats may not drink enough water on their own to stay properly hydrated.
One way to help increase their daily water intake is by feeding a high-moisture diet, such as canned, raw, or gently cooked food. Unlike kibble, which contains very little moisture, these foods can provide a significant amount of water with every meal.
💧Hydration is important for urinary and kidney health, and getting more moisture through their food can be especially helpful for cats who don’t drink much from their water bowl.
What about carbohydrates? Cats are obligate carnivores and have little nutritional need for carbohydrates. Dry kibble often contains more carbohydrates than wet, raw, or gently cooked diets. Choosing a high-moisture, appropriately formulated food can be a great way to provide more species-appropriate nutrition while reducing unnecessary carbohydrate intake.
Every cat is different, so it’s important to choose a complete and balanced diet that meets your cat’s individual nutritional needs.
💚More moisture + appropriate nutrition = a great foundation for a healthier, happier cat!💚
