🐾 Joey's Journey: One Year Strong! 🐾
Joey, a retired racing greyhound adopted in 2019, was referred to our Oncology Service in June 2025 after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer).
To treat his cancer and relieve his pain, Joey underwent amputation of the affected limb. After surgery, he received six rounds of carboplatin chemotherapy, a treatment designed to target microscopic cancer cells that may have spread beyond the bone tumor. The goal is to help slow the progression of the disease while maintaining an excellent quality of life.
Joey tolerated chemotherapy with minimal side effects and graduated from his IV chemotherapy protocol in November 2025. Today, nearly one year later, he continues to do wonderfully at home and is just as happy and speedy as ever on three legs. He is currently doing well on low-dose oral chemotherapy.
We are grateful to Joey and his family for allowing us to share his story and for trusting our Oncology team with his care. ❤️
📚 Bonus fun fact: Joey even has his own coloring book available on Amazon! https://a.co/d/09k9Yym5
