Underated thing right here. Dogs want to be up on you and claim your territory. Super important to not allow that territory to be overthrownn by them. Dogs are territorial living things by DNA and if they seek prey to take, they will. That means you being the prey and what they want they will take even if its space/boundaries they want to claim.

The more your dog respects you the easier it will be to keep them under control.

Try it out. Step towrds your dog and see if they back up/ move or just look at you as another thing.

The importance of getting your dog to follow you instead of against you is crucial!

Always start on leash to set foundations properly. That means teach the proper communication via the leash and not through assuminh they will do it just because.

You see Barnum following every direction I turn with slight pops given to help show him to follow pressure and body instead of controlling every step.

Show your dog natural movements in order to teach realistic situations. You want to build a better stay? Show your dog that distance is the goal from them without breaking positioning. Introduce noise distractions and different stimuluses to get them used to remaining calm and specific positions In order to build a great and durable, stay.

Listen and Learn.

Just because the dog is in front of you does not mean you have to approach it every time. Learn to give dogs personal space and let them get adjusted to you before thinking you guys are best friends.

The perfect heel is not always necessary. Instead, I go for the complete understanding of what's being taught and asked.

Dex here because he is a little nervous around men, being on the leash, as well as wanting to do his own thing with pulling, I use a barrier to help show him the proper positioning when walking on a leash, instead of ignoring what he is supposed to do.

In doing so I start super close with a wall barrier between him and the wall. So that way he cannot pull away from me. And as he starts getting more calmer, I move away from the wall barrier every couple feet. That wat he doesn 't rely only on that wall barrier to walk next to me while on leash.

A lot of dog owners struggle with loose leash walking because they do not teach the dog to follow by giving them a reason to follow. Super important to tap into your dogs drive in order to get them to learn from you.
