🐾WORLD RABIES DAY 🐾
Rabies is one of the deadliest diseases we encounter in veterinary medicine, but there’s something incredibly powerful we can do to help prevent it: vaccination. 💉
Rabies is a viral disease that affects the nervous system and can infect both animals and people. Once clinical signs develop, rabies is almost always fatal. The good news? Rabies vaccination is highly effective and is one of the easiest ways to protect your pets, your family, and your community.
🐾Why should you keep your pet vaccinated?
• Protects your pet from a deadly disease
• Helps protect people from exposure
• Reduces the risk of rabies spreading through our community
• Keeps your pet compliant with local vaccination requirements
• Provides an important layer of protection if your pet encounters wildlife. Even pets who stay mostly indoors can potentially encounter rabies through wildlife such as bats, raccoons, skunks, and foxes.
And remember: rabies isn’t just a dog and cat disease. Any mammal can potentially become infected.
Take a moment to review your pets vaccination records and if you aren’t sure if your pet is up to date, call us at 219-462-9668 to find out.
