Rabies protection up to date? Check your pets’ immunization status —exposure opportunities to this fatal virus exist even for strictly indoor pets. Bats can & do end up inside of homes on occasion. (More frequently than most folks realize)

Did you know all mammals are capable of being infected with and transmitting rabies? Even cute cuddly ones like kittens! In recent years, cats have become the most common domestic animal infected with rabies because many cat owners do not vaccinate their cats, and cats can be exposed to rabid wildlife, either outdoors or when bats get into the house.

Here are 6️⃣ ways you can prevent this disease and protect yourself and your animals. Visit avma.org/Rabies to learn more.

🌞It’s still Summer!!! …Well, that’s if the the hot days and recent endoscopic emergencies are any indication!
Buster had a day at the lake with his family, 🐟but overindulged on a hotdog-baited fish hook and 2 Slim Jims. Poppy inhaled an ice cream bar, 🍡stick-and-all! And Winnie just couldn’t resist the temptation of corn cobs 🌽 in the garbage. All 3 recovered well and were home after their procedures. Cheers to the amazing staff at EVCC for their help! ☺️

Sugar-frosted face Dylan is loving his Dr Buzby’s toe grips 💗 The colorful, simple devices are easily applied to the toenails & add better footing & grip on slippery floors. Dr. Buzby’s are “the bomb!” per his human!

Meet beautiful Bree! She’s a sweet St. Bernard recently adopted by The Best St Bernard Family that we at Southlane Veterinary Hospital have had the privilege in the care of their giant dogs 💕. As luck would have it, Bree is an unusual “dry mouth” variety. IYKYK !! Welcome, lovely Bree!

We don't often get patients this tiny!!! 🥹 "Kitten" is a 28-day-old orphaned kitten that presented last night after he bit off and swallowed a rubber ni**le while being bottle fed. He's about the size & weight of a desktop computer mouse!
Props to the skilled staff at EVCC-Mishawaka & -Westville to coordinate this guy's care. We were able to pass the endoscope, pluck out the ni**le, and get him home, ...with a recommendation to transition to solid food! 😺
Dr. Denzine, Dr. Uriadko, Larissa, Kim, Sydney ...you guys rock!
