I think we’re entering an era where more people are starting to ask a very important question:
What exactly are we putting into our bodies?
People are questioning vaccines. They’re questioning medications. They’re reading ingredient labels. And now I think it’s time we start paying a whole lot more attention to our FOOD.
Walk through the grocery store and actually read the labels.
“Bioengineered food ingredient.”
Ingredients most of us can’t pronounce.
Highly processed foods everywhere.
Questions about genetically modified crops, new food technologies, additives, pesticides, how animals are raised, and where our food actually came from. And honestly, how many of us really know the farmer who grew our vegetables, raised the chicken that laid our eggs, or raised the beef we're feeding our families?
For years, convenience made it easy not to think about those things.
I think that’s changing.
Maybe taking back control of our health also means taking back some control over our food supply.
Find the farmer down the road.
Buy eggs from the family with chickens.
Support the local cattle farmer.
Shop the farmers market.
Grow a garden, even if it’s small.
Learn how to preserve food.
Trade with neighbors.
Support the homesteaders and small farms in your community.
Teach your children where their food actually comes from.
I’m not saying everyone needs 20 acres, a milk cow and a giant garden. I’m saying maybe we need to rebuild something our grandparents understood very well..
A community that can feed itself is a community that is a little less dependent on everyone else to do it for them.
Know your farmer.
Know your food.
Grow what you can.
Buy local when you can.
And start paying attention to what’s actually on that label.
Because feeding our families shouldn't just be about what's cheapest or most convenient anymore.
It should also be about knowing what we're eating and where it came from.
