“One does not simply…” tie their shoe at a veterinary clinic without half their inventory falling out. 🧙‍♂️😂

Dr. Reardon gave us a glimpse into the mysterious depths of a veterinarian’s pockets and honestly… we’re convinced there’s some kind of magic involved.

Contained within:
🩺 Medical supplies
🖊️ Pens that disappeared three shifts ago
🦴 Emergency treats
📋 Tiny notes with mysterious importance
🐱 And yes… an actual kitten

Somewhere, Gandalf is whispering:
“Keep it secret. Keep it safe.”

Meanwhile veterinary professionals are over here carrying an entire hospital in their scrub pockets. 😅

Tell us in the comments:
What’s the weirdest thing YOU think has been found in a vet professional’s pockets? ⬇️

🎉 Happy 6-Year Workiversary to Dr. Love! 🎉

For the past 6 years, Dr. Love has brought incredible care, compassion, humor, and just the right amount of chaos to Arbor View. Whether she’s working with reptiles, learning advanced endoscopy techniques, or enthusiastically volunteering for venomous snake training, her passion for animals (especially the weird ones!) shines through every day.

A few fun facts about Dr. Love:
🐍 Favorite species to work with: Reptiles — the weirder the better
🦖 Favorite species: Spinosaurus aegyptiacus (“I just think they’re neat.”)
🐺 Former self-described “weird wolf girl”
☕ Team tea, not coffee
🎮 Claims years of video games prepared her for endoscopy
🦨 Spirit animal: Virginia opossum

When asked why she chose veterinary medicine, Dr. Love explained:
“Because being a Pokémon trainer wasn’t a valid option.”

One of her favorite memories at Arbor View was participating in venomous snake training — something she had dreamed about for years and describes as both humbling and an incredible trust-building experience with coworkers.

What means the most to her about veterinary medicine is helping preserve the bond between people and their pets:
“Being able to help maintain that bond and give owners and their pets of all species more quality time together means the world to me.”

Thank you, Dr. Love, for the knowledge, dedication, dad jokes, exotic animal passion, and compassionate care you bring to our team and patients every day. We’re lucky to have you at Arbor View!

Drop Dr. Love a congratulations in the comments below! 🐾

🚨 Tiny patient alert 🚨

This little sugar glider joey is approximately 1 week out of pouch (OOP) and already stealing hearts. ❤️

He doesn’t have a name yet, so feel free to drop your suggestions below! ⬇️

Sugar gliders are marsupials, which means babies are born extremely underdeveloped after only about a 2 week gestation. After birth, the joey crawls into mom’s pouch where he continues developing for roughly another 8 weeks!

At this age:
👀 His eyes are still closed (they should open around 2 weeks OOP)
⚖️ He weighs about 15 grams
🩺 Mom weighs approximately 73 grams
🦀 And despite being tiny, he already “crabbed” at us when separated from mom — a defensive sound sugar gliders make when scared or protective!

We suspect mom is Indy since he was actively nursing on her, but both Indy and her sister Lola have been VERY protective of him. 🥹

A few fun sugar glider facts:
🌙 They are nocturnal
🪶 They glide using a membrane called a patagium
🍎 Their diet is very specialized and improper nutrition can lead to serious health problems
👨‍👩‍👦 In the wild, they live in highly social family groups

Have you ever seen a baby sugar glider before? And more importantly… what should we name this tiny guy? 👀

This Memorial Day, we remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.

Throughout history, animals have served beside military members in extraordinary ways — carrying supplies, delivering messages, locating the wounded, warning of danger, and offering loyalty and companionship during some of history’s darkest moments.

This slideshow highlights just a few of the many animals who served alongside the military through the years:

🐾 Sgt. Stubby, the decorated World War I dog known for warning troops of gas attacks and helping locate wounded soldiers.

🕊️ Cher Ami, a carrier pigeon who delivered a life-saving message despite suffering devastating injuries during flight.

🐴 Sergeant Reckless, a horse who carried ammunition and evacuated wounded soldiers under enemy fire during the Korean War.

And countless others whose stories may never fully be known.

Today, we pause to remember all who served and all who sacrificed — human and animal alike.

❤️🤍💙

Olympic-level athlete? ❌
Professional treat launcher? ✅

Sig came in for a check-up and decided to show off his impressive treat-catching skills for the camera. 😂

Keyword: *attempted.*

Outtakes included:
🎯 One successful airborne snack interception
🏀 Two dramatic rebounds
😅 A whole lot of enthusiasm

Don’t worry — every treat still made it to its final destination eventually. 🐶

Moments like these are honestly some of our favorites. Behind the scenes, there’s a lot of love, laughs, treats, encouragement, and cheering pets on for even the smallest victories. We know how much your pets mean to you, and we do our best to treat them like they’re our own while they’re here with us. ❤️

Give us a call or text so we can see your athlete's treat skills in action! 219-762-7267 or e-mail us [email protected].

🚨 July 4th will be here before we know it! 🚨

While fireworks are fun for many people, they can be one of the most stressful nights of the year for pets. The good news? A little preparation NOW can make a huge difference later.

Here are a few things we recommend doing BEFORE the holiday rush begins:

🐾 Refill anxiety medications early
Appointment slots and medication supplies can fill quickly as the holiday gets closer. If your pet struggles with fireworks, thunderstorms, or loud noises, now is the perfect time to call about refills or scheduling an appointment.

🏷️ Check collars and ID tags
Make sure your pet’s tag is attached, readable, and has current contact information.

📍Verify microchip information
A microchip only works if the registration information is up to date! Double-check your phone number, address, and emergency contacts now instead of during an emergency.

🏠 Start planning a “safe space”
Quiet rooms, TVs, fans, calming music, comfy blankets, and treats can all help reduce stress when fireworks season arrives.

Even pets who normally do well can become startled unexpectedly during fireworks season, so planning ahead is one of the best things you can do for their safety.

Questions about anxiety medications, calming products, or microchips? Give us a call/text at 219-762-7267 — we’re happy to help. ❤️🤍💙
