Grateful Dog Kennels is once again happy to sponsor the Lake Erie Labrador Retriever Rescue gala! This year’s sponsorship includes a special tribute in memory of my Dad. When I first opened Grateful Dog Kennels, I was simultaneously working two other part time jobs and could not afford to hire any employees. Dad came, like clockwork, every Saturday (and sometimes other days as needed) to work in my kennels, for free, while I was working my tail off to get this business off the ground. I simply could not have done it without him. ❤️

Many thanks to our good friends at Grateful Dog Kennels for once again sponsoring our annual Gala!

They're the most Labulous place to send your dog on a staycation while you vacation!

Thank you!

GDK public service announcement! I have recently had to turn away MANY last-minute requests for weekend boarding in September. Just because the kids are back in school doesn’t mean things are any less busy around here, especially on the weekends! You are always welcome to reach out and ask, just don’t be surprised if the answer is “Sorry, I’m all booked up”! (Below is a little glimpse of the completely full kennel this weekend!)

My husband found this quite funny the first time he saw me doing it, so he asked me to do it again to get a video. 😂. In all seriousness though, what you see here has been years in the making. These dogs are all incredibly well established, very frequent clients. This is the only reason I’m conducting a playgroup this large. Some of them have been with me for nine years! They know me and my standards and listen as if they were my own. I know them, their personalities, their mannerisms, and can read their body language. THIS is why I have kept Grateful Dog Kennels small and exclusive. ❤️ 🐾

It’s always nice when I have a group of “regulars” here that are all well established with one another. This means I can have a larger playgroup and give everyone even more time outside! Check out this incredibly well-behaved, relax group of dogs enjoying the morning!

Hey everyone! Butch here! In honor of my one year gotcha day, my mom would like to get on her soapbox for a moment. She wants to remind you that it is REALLLLLLY EASY to not add to the overcrowding problem in our local shelters this weekend.
1. Check your fences and gates before letting your dogs out. Today, tomorrow, Sunday, always.
2. Get your dogs out to potty early, before the big fireworks start. She suggests by 8 PM at least.
3. If you leash walk your dog, make sure your equipment is secure. Regular buckle collars loosen and slip off. Use something like a slip lead or martingale.
4. If your dog is typically perfectly off leash trained in your yard, well, nothing is perfect. Loud noises can spook the most well trained dogs. Just put your dog on a leash. I promise, it’s not that hard.
5. Have identification on your dog! Even simply writing your phone number in sharpie on their collar can make a huge difference.
6. Make sure your dog is micro chipped, and that microchip is registered! In case of a freak accident and numbers 1 through 5 fail, allow this to be your backup. The first thing an animal control officer will do when it finds a dog is scan it for a chip. Make sure your info is up-to-date on these registrations.
Have a SAFE and happy Fourth of July everyone! ❤️🤍💙 🇺🇸
