🐾🇺🇸Honoring K9 Apollo🇺🇸🐾

K9 Apollo and his LEO Handler Officer Peter Davis were the first K9 team to arrive at ground zero on September 11th, 2001 and credited with saving 8 lives as a direct result of his efforts.

Apollo was an officer of the New York City Police Department Canine division, arriving just 15 minutes after the south tower collapsed in lower manhattan.

Apollo worked nearly 18 hours a day for weeks amongst the nearly 300 other responding K-9 units, he suffered burns from falling through a hole and being hit with a ball of fire. He would go on to be awarded the PDSA Dickin Medal, the highest Military award for animal bravery (comparable to the Victorian Cross), the American Kennel Club ACE Award in 2001, and honored at the 2002 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

He retired after the attacks in New York and passed in November of 2006

🐾🇺🇸Honoring the service of K9 Bretagne🇺🇸🐾

Bretagne (Brittany), stands memorialized within the 9/11 Museum at Ground Zero Memorial, NYC.

Bretagne and her owner/handler Denise Corliss, responded to the attacks on 9/11 with Texas Task Force 1 as a Search and Rescue team and at just 2 years old, worked 12 hour shifts for more than 10 days to rescue and recover those who were trapped, injured or killed.

The team also responded to Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ivan, before retiring just before her 10th birthday.

Bretagne passed away in her home state of Texas on June 6th, 2016, becoming the last surviving K9 to respond to ground zero.

🇺🇸9/11/2001 NEVER FORGET🇺🇸

25 years ago today over 3,000 lives were lost in the terrorist attacks against our country, today we remember those who chose not to stand idle, but acted despite overwhelming and chaotic circumstances.

The brave Firefighters, Police, EMS, Military, Nurses, Doctors, and everyday regular Americans who came together and responded to these tragedies expressed the highest values of our country, and have continued to protect and preserve our way of life over the past 25 years.

To those who chose to fight back on Flight 93,
To those who fought every step in the stairwells of the towers,
To those who ran towards the Pentagon.

You are not forgotten,
