I think it’s about time I introduce myself and Taps & Traditions!
My name is Morgan Corean, and much of my life has been shaped by horses and the traditions that surround them. Long days in the saddle, good hands to learn from and work alongside, and all the dust, hard work, and little moments in between have made this way of life something I’m deeply grateful for. It’s a life that isn’t always easy, but it’s one I wouldn’t trade. There’s always another story to tell, another lesson to learn, and usually a cup of coffee needed somewhere along the way.
When I first began searching for a name for this venture, I kept coming back to the traditions woven through every part of the life I love. Long tapaderos on a saddle, a good bridle horse, stories I’ve been fortunate enough to hear and be a part of, and now the moments I preserve through art. All of these are pieces of the traditions that shape this life.
That is what Taps & Traditions has grown into: a place for art, horsemanship, and the western traditions that connect the two.
My artwork is inspired by the horses, people, places, and pieces of this life that have left an impression on me. Each drawing begins with a moment worth remembering, oftentimes it’s one that might otherwise pass unnoticed. Through each piece, those moments are given a way to live on and be shared.
Horsemanship remains at the heart of it all. I strive to keep learning, to listen, to understand, and to meet a horse where they are. The best lessons often come from the horses themselves. There is always more to learn, and plenty of old wisdom worth carrying forward.
Art and horsemanship might seem like two different paths, but to me they have always flowed together. Both require patience, observation, feel, and a willingness to listen. Both are built one small step at a time. And both allow us to carry pieces of a tradition forward while making them our own.
There is a lot I hope to share through Taps & Traditions! Art, horses, stories, craftsmanship, and the everyday moments in between.
Thank you for being here and coming along for the ride.
