Boss, male Anatolian Shepherd mix, est. DOB 11/16/2022

Boss was found as a stray, and no one came looking for him. He may be a very big boy, but he is a gentle one! He is learning to walk nicely on a leash now that he is here with us, and he absolutely loves to get out for walks! He does know how to sit for treats. He may do well with having a job to do but as he was a stray, the staff does not know how he does with other animals. He was assessed in playgroup and did well with a small group of medium-energy dogs. Boss would love to find a new home to call his, preferably one with a safe and secure yard to keep him contained!

💔 It’s me, Chapeaka (A287367)… and I’m still here waiting. MY SHELTER DEADLINE IS SATURDAY JUNE 6TH AT 4PM. I desperately need out of the shelter by then! 💔

I’m a 6-year-old female Shepherd/Chow mix, and I’ve been at the shelter since December after I was found abandoned at Picacho Peak State Park.

I try to be good. I walk nicely on leash, I’m gentle, and I like calm dog friends who move through the world softly like I do. I really do my best every single day.

But this place is getting really hard for me.
The noise, the stress, the long days… they’ve started to make my brain feel stuck. I’ve started chasing lights and shadows when I’m overwhelmed. I don’t mean to—I just don’t know how to make the stress stop.

Still… I keep hoping. I still believe someone is coming for me… but time is running out.

⏰ My deadline is Saturday, June 6th at 4 PM.

I don’t need anything fancy. Just a quiet home, someone patient, and a soft place where I can finally breathe and feel safe again.

Say hello to the safest dog the shelter right now 😅 while fully vaccinated dogs stand almost no chance of contracting distemper nothing gives a dog better immunity than surviving distemper!

Barron A290946 - 5 years old - Am Staff/Lab Mix - Male

Barron came to PCACC as a stray with a noticeable bounce in his step! After some time in isolation and testing we found out that Barron had survived distemper sometime prior to coming to the shelter, was NOT contagious and was ready to move onto his forever home.

Barron lived most of his life as a roaming stray in Ak Chin/Maricopa so he has never known the comfort of a bed but boy did he adjust quickly! Barron loves nothing more than a comfy fed and good bully stick.

Barron can be a little timid on leash but crawls right into your lap for attention!

✨ DEADLINE EXTENDED — Chapeaka now has until Saturday, June 6th at 4 PM ✨

For months, Chapeaka (A287367) has been waiting for someone to see the wonderful dog hiding behind the stress of shelter life.

This sweet 6-year-old female Shepherd/Chow mix was found abandoned at Picacho Peak State Park in December and has been at the shelter ever since. Despite everything she's been through, Chapeaka is known for her polite leash manners, gentle nature, and appreciation for calm canine friends.

Unfortunately, the shelter environment has taken a toll on her. The stress has led to compulsive light and shadow chasing behaviors—an indication that kennel life is becoming too much for her to handle.

But when you get her out of the kennel, you see a different dog: a soft-hearted girl who just wants a chance to relax, feel safe, and be loved. 💔 Chapeaka has already spent far too long waiting.

**MAX IS OUT ON FOSTER TO ADOPT **

Max Needs a Soft Place to Land—Before Time Runs Out 💔🐾

Max (A290148) has a deadline of Wednesday, June 3rd at 4:00 PM, and this 12-year-old neutered German Shepherd really needs your help.

He came to PCACC in May after being surrendered when his family could no longer keep him. Max has spent his whole life outside, and now he’s hoping his final chapter is finally warm, quiet, and full of care.

This sweet senior is looking for a calm retirement home where he can slow down and simply be loved. He’s lived without other dogs in his previous home, but has been polite and friendly when meeting medium to large dogs.

Max is carrying a lot for his age—an old untreated ACL injury and significant arthritis in his knee and spine that affects his hind legs. He will need ongoing pain management and long-term care. PCACC will provide 3 months of medication upon adoption/transfer to help him transition.

At 12 years old, Max isn’t asking for much—just comfort, kindness, and a soft bed after a lifetime of being tough. He’s sweet. He’s gentle. And he’s running out of time.
