We’re still smiling from yesterday’s Pug Prom! Here are some of our favorite photo booth photos.

More than 140 people, 80+ dogs, and countless laughs filled the room. The energy was incredible. In fact, several people walking by saw the fun, bought tickets on the spot, and joined the party.

A huge thank you to for generously donating their photo booth services. We’re so grateful for their support and blown away by their kindness.

Seeing everyone show up in suits, floor-length gowns, heels, and, of course, the pugs dressed for prom made the day even more memorable.

We’ll be sharing more photos and fundraising results soon, but one thing is already certain: Pug Prom will be back.

The weather is heating up, and we know the kids are begging for a dog. Not ready for a lifelong commitment? Fostering might be the perfect fit!

Fostering teaches kids important lessons like compassion, patience, responsibility, and even how to say goodbye, while helping a dog in need. And the best part? There are no medical bills for you to worry about.

Pugs are wonderful family dogs. Bred to be companions, they’re generally tolerant, gentle, and eager to please. Many of our dogs come from shelters or are surrendered by owners. While their pasts aren’t always known, they’re almost always grateful for a safe place to land. With some basic boundaries and kid-friendly dog training, your home could be the perfect foster spot.

We’re currently looking for foster families in the East Bay, Vacaville, and Sacramento areas. If you’re interested, please reach out with any questions and apply today!

Baby Girl is adopted!

After recently saying goodbye to their senior pug Squishy, Sondra and her family knew their home wasn’t complete without some snorts and cuddles around again. They came across Baby Girl online and instantly felt drawn to her. At first, they weren’t sure they were ready for another dog, but after reading her story, they knew she was meant to be part of their family. They truly believe Squishy sent Baby Girl their way.

This sweet little pug mix came to us from the Tulare shelter after years of instability and repeated litters. Thankfully, the shelter was able to get her spayed last year, and when she was recently found tied up outside with one of her puppies, they knew she deserved a fresh start and a safe, loving home.

Now renamed Boba, she’s been spoiled since the moment she arrived. Pictured here is Boba with Sondra’s daughter Jade.

Happy tails, Boba!

Orion is ready to find his forever home!

This gentle and loving 2-month-old puppy will receive his second round of vaccines during the second week of June and will be ready to head home shortly after.

Orion has already overcome so much in his short life. Earlier this month, we took in him and two other tiny puppies in heartbreaking condition. They were covered in live fleas, severely anemic, and battling upper respiratory infections. Orion spent weeks on antibiotics while everyone worried about him, but today he’s completely healthy, full of life, and ready for endless cuddles.

He’s not your typical puppy. Orion is more like a Ragdoll kitten: he melts into your arms, showers you with kisses, and gently toddles after you from room to room. He loves curling up with his foster siblings, is fascinated by the adult pugs, and especially enjoys spending time with senior dogs. He’s wonderful with kids, enjoys puppy wrestling sessions, but is just as happy chewing on a teething toy or soaking up the sun beside you.

Because he is still so young, adopters will need to continue his puppy vaccine series and sign a neuter contract. Orion must follow standard puppy safety protocols until fully vaccinated, meaning no paws on public ground and no interactions with unfamiliar dogs for another month or so. He also needs to be fed three times a day, so we are looking for adopters who are home often enough to provide the care, socialization, and structure a young puppy needs.

Orion is fostered in Martinez, CA. For out-of-area adopters, the closest airport is OAK.

Ricky is adopted!

As a longtime pug lover, Robyn hoped to find a sweet pug for her kids to grow up with. She has a soft spot for black male pugs and came to our Pleasant Hill adoption event to meet a few of them, but when the whole family made the drive from Santa Cruz… they fell in love with someone completely unexpected.

The moment they picked up Ricky and walked him around the event, everything changed.

Ricky came to us alongside two female pugs he was being bred with after they were discovered living in heartbreaking conditions inside an RV. An officer described the situation as “deplorable,” and when Amador County Animal Control asked us to help, we immediately stepped in.

Now renamed Hugo, this sweet boy walked away with his new family without looking back… always a good sign. Since adoption day, he’s already been on beach trips, road adventures, and family outings galore.

From surviving life in an RV as a breeding dog to living his best life with a family who adores him, Hugo truly hit the jackpot.Bailey

Bailey is adopted!

Ekaterina, Iaroslav, and their children missed having a dog in their lives after making the difficult decision to rehome their beloved French Bulldog, Buska, with friends when they emigrated from Russia. When they came across Bailey’s profile, they were immediately drawn to her because she reminded them so much of Buska.

Bailey is a French bulldog pug mix who came to us through a homeless advocate group in the Central Valley after being found wandering as a stray. Despite her uncertain beginnings, she quickly showed everyone what a sweet, affectionate, and adaptable girl she is.

The family was excited to meet her from the start, and it was clear right away that Bailey had found her people. We’re thrilled that she now has a loving family who absolutely adores her and children to share all of life’s adventures with.

Happy tails, Bailey!

Coco update 💜

We first introduced you to Coco in April. After being found as a stray, she was taken in by a Good Samaritan who later reached out for help when Coco began having seizures.

Since joining our rescue, Coco has been diagnosed with epilepsy, Lyme disease, and heartworm disease. She’s currently undergoing heartworm treatment and takes seizure medication five times a day.

Recently, Coco faced another hurdle. What seemed like a manageable eye issue quickly worsened after an unexpected reaction to medication, leaving her uncomfortable and in pain. The best option was to remove the eye, and she is now recovering with the help of an amazing new foster mom Melissa who happens to be a nurse and doesn’t bat an eye when it comes things like dressing changes at home or monitoring through seizures.

We are also incredibly grateful to Coco’s first foster mom Shannon, who welcomed her despite her many medical challenges and helped navigate those critical early weeks of care. It takes a special kind of person to say yes to a dog with so many unknowns.

Despite everything she’s been through, Coco remains a happy girl who loves cuddles, sunshine, and being close to her people.

Dogs like Coco are why your support matters. Not every pug who comes through our doors has a simple path forward. Many require months of treatment, specialized care, and dedicated foster homes. Thanks to our donors and volunteers, we’re able to say “yes” to pugs with complex medical needs and give them the chance they deserve.

Our Alameda Pug Meetup yesterday was the perfect way to spend Memorial Day weekend! ☀️

There’s just something special about a dog park by the water. We met so many new friends, caught up with several BAPP alumni who found their forever homes last year, and swapped photos of our outfits for next weekend’s Pug Prom.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made it such a fun afternoon. We can’t wait to do it again; stay tuned for details on our next meetup!

Meet Dalton!

Large and in charge, Dalton is a lovable blockhead with a giant head, long legs, and an even bigger personality. We estimate him to be around 3–4 years old, and he’s the kind of dog who bursts into your life and immediately makes himself at home.

Dalton loves an adventure. Coffee shop trips, car rides, neighborhood walks…he’s always ready to tag along. He’s super sweet, friendly, and confident, with a goofy enthusiasm for life that makes everyone smile.

He does need some help learning boundaries with other dogs, as he can get overly excited during playtime. Because of his energy level and size, he’d thrive in an active home that can keep him engaged. Doggy daycare, pack walks, outdoor adventures, or a playful dog his size or bigger would all be right up his alley.

Dalton also has a little separation anxiety, though it’s manageable, and he’ll need continued structure and activity to help him feel secure and fulfilled. He’ll bark at cats, so a feline-free home would be best.

This handsome guy recently had soft palate surgery to help him breathe more comfortably and is already feeling so much better.

Dalton came to us from Tulare Animal Services after being found as a stray. Despite whatever journey he’s had before rescue, he’s remained a confident, affectionate dog who’s ready to claim his spot in someone’s heart…and probably on their couch, too.

He’s neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and being fostered in Vacaville, CA.
