🐾 An Unexpected Wildlife Rescue! 🐾

Our team recently received a call about a possible ringtail trapped inside a vehicle. Ringtails are not commonly seen in our area, so we were certainly surprised to discover that’s exactly what we had!

With help from Officer Barnett, he was able to safely remove and contain the little visitor. We then coordinated with a wildlife rehabilitator to ensure the ringtail was transported to the appropriate place for care.

Wildlife calls can bring unexpected surprises, and we’re always glad to work together to help our local wildlife! 🦝💚

🦝 A TRASHY SITUATION WITH A HAPPY ENDING! 🦝💚

Officer Contreras and Sgt. Ackerman came to the rescue of three raccoons who found themselves trapped inside a dumpster with no way out!

Thanks to their quick response and teamwork, all three raccoons were safely rescued and given a second chance to get back to what raccoons do best: exploring, climbing, and getting into a little mischief. 😂🌳

All three were safely returned to the wild, where they belong! 🦝💚

This is a great reminder to check dumpsters and other large containers for curious critters before closing or securing them. Wildlife can get into places they can’t easily escape from!

PILOT PROGRAM, LIMITED TIME: Tomcat Tuesdays, for Solano County residents only

The Big Fix presents Tomcat Tuesdays, a new low-cost cat neuter program from the SPCA of Solano County. Our first surgery day is this Tuesday, October 20. Additional dates TBA.

𝗕𝗬 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗢𝗡𝗟𝗬 – 𝗡𝗢 𝗪𝗔𝗟𝗞-𝗜𝗡𝗦

• Male cats only for this first date (10 neuter appointments)
• Open to Solano County residents only. Proof of residency is required to book and at drop-off.
• $10 per cat
• Limit 2 cats per household
• Rabies vaccine included if your cat is old enough
• Space is very limited
• Drop-off 7:30–8:30 AM, pickup 3:00–4:00 PM
• 2200 Peabody Road, Vacaville

Accepted proof of residency: a California ID with a Solano County address, a recent utility bill, a lease or mortgage statement, or vehicle registration.

This is a limited-time pilot program, so spots are first come, first served.

Humane Animal Services is looking for the owner of an aged male Pit Bull with a white coat who was found near Union and Pear Tree in Fairfield. He has a microchip, but it is not registered.

* Deaf

This sweet boy may be missing his family and would love to find his way home! ❤️

☀️🐾 HEAT ADVISORY: KEEP OUR ANIMALS SAFE! 🐾☀️

We’re hopefully going to see some relief from the heat this weekend, but until those cooler temperatures arrive, let’s keep our four-legged friends in mind! 🐶🐱

During excessive heat:

💧 Always provide fresh, clean water and check it throughout the day.
🏠 Outdoor animals need access to shade and adequate shelter. Bringing them indoors is ideal whenever possible.
🚶‍♀️ Avoid walks during peak heat. Early morning or evening is much safer, and hot pavement can burn paw pads.
🚗 NEVER leave an animal unattended in a vehicle. Temperatures inside a vehicle can become dangerously hot within minutes—even with the windows cracked.
❤️ Keep an eye out for signs of heat stress, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or unusual behavior.

🌤️ Cooler days are hopefully on the way—but until then, stay vigilant and keep those tails wagging safely!

🐾🚓 When Animal Control Gets a Night Out! 😂

Humane Animal Services had an absolute blast at National Night Out in Vacaville! 🎉

Usually, when you see our officers out and about, they’re chasing loose dogs, answering calls, rescuing animals, or trying to figure out how a cat managed to get up there. 🐈‍⬛😂

But tonight? We got to socialize! 🙌

Our officers had so much fun stepping away from the calls for a little while and spending time with the amazing Vacaville community. We met some wonderful people, answered questions, talked about animals, laughed a LOT, and enjoyed getting to see everyone outside of our usual animal-control adventures. ❤️

And yes… our officers are apparently capable of smiling when they aren’t chasing a stray dog. 🤣🐕

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, take pictures, and hang out with us! We had a fantastic time and loved seeing so many familiar faces.

From responding to calls to responding to “Can I pet your dog?” — we had a pretty great night! 🐶❤️

This sweet female Black Lab mix was found near Davis Street & Pecan Street in Vacaville.

She does have a microchip, but unfortunately, the chip is not registered, so we have not been able to identify or contact her owner.
