Meet Davis 🌇 Davis is a 12yr old, 10lb, Chihuahua mix. Davis is a very active boy. Don’t let his age fool you!!! Davis loves to jump in cars and go for car rides. Davis loves to go for walks and is friendly with everyone he meets, 2or4 legged! Davis is a very social older gentleman. I imagine Davis the one at the senior home who gets the party started and gets everyone moving. Davis loves his people and hasn’t met a person he doesn’t like. Meet Ruthie 💐 Ruthie is a 10yr old 10lb Chihuahua mix. Ruthie is a sweet girl who loves everyone. She can be a little shy of people for a hot minute, but when she warms up she is a girl who loves to be held and cuddled. Ruthie gets along with all dogs and will “mother” the smaller dogs. Ruthie is missing all of her teeth, and her lower jaw is starting to resorb because of this, but that doesn’t make her miss any meals. Ruthie is a healthy eater, and will even eat the smaller sized kibble. If you’re looking for a little buddy that wants to cuddle or go out on the town, Ruthie is the girl for you. Meet Clara! 💚☘️ She is an eleven week old, Terrier mix. She is on the smaller side, currently weighing 8 pounds.

Clara is very outgoing! She would make a great adventure buddy, hiking, car rides, swimming, anything outdoors she loves! She loves other dogs and would make a great playmate for another dog. She is curious about cats but doesn’t mind them. Clara has a lot of energy and would need daily time to play outside. She is still a puppy and needs be taught her manners, leash training, basic commands, and potty training. She is a quick learner and treat motivated. She has the softest fur and would need to be brushed to upkeep it. Clara is a gentle, loving girl and really wants to find her forever home.

Sammy was found as a stray in Stockton with his sister, Stevie. Sammy is a gentle, smart boy. He loves all people and animals. He wants a person he can follow around all day long and hang out with. He absolutely loves cuddling. He gets along with other dogs and even cats. Sammy will need to learn his manners with some basic puppy training. But he is very smart and food motivated!

Meet Stevie! 💐🩷 She is an eight week old, Beagle/Chihuahua mix looking for her forever home.

Stevie was found with her brother, Sammy, as a stray in Stockton. She is a very social, gentle girl. She absolutely loves other dogs. She will play and cuddle all day long. She is curious about cats and wants to play with them too! Her long, floppy ears bounce as she runs around and plays. She will need basic puppy training to learn her manners, such as leash training, commands, and potty training. She is a super smart girl and eager to learn.

HAPPY NATIONAL RESCUE DAY 🐶❤️ Today we celebrate all rescue dogs and how much joy they add to our lives.

I want to share two stories of dogs we have recently rescued. Animals do not have a voice so we need to to be their voices. Telling their stories helps raise awareness and gives hope for second chances.

First, we have Donovan. He is an almost 17 year old Shih Tzu. He was brought to the shelter by his owners to be euthanized. The reason is because he is blind and deaf, so he pees in the house. He is otherwise healthy and happy. He immediately started wagging his tail when he was picked up.

Next we have Clara. She is only ten weeks old, but has already been through so much. She was founding wandering the streets alone in East Bay. We don’t what happened to her mom or siblings or where she came from. She was completely alone, wandering around until someone picked her up. She was brought to the shelter, where nobody claimed her. So she came to BrokeTail Rescue. Despite her past, she is such a happy and playful girl.

There are thousands of similar stories like Clara’s and Donovan’s. People failing dogs that they committed to caring and loving.

But today is not for those people. Today is for those who recognize the value and importance of rescue dogs in our lives. The small joys they bring us. The hard times they help us through. Today is for the second chances these dogs receive. The new families that rescue them who wouldn’t ever even consider abandoning them.

BrokeTail Rescue has met so many amazing families that adopted our rescue dogs and love them unconditionally. We thank you all for the support and the rescue of these dogs! ❤️

Happy Mother’s Day from our newest and tiniest rescues Sammy and Stevie 💐🩷

These two were found as strays together in Stockton. They were brought to the local shelter and we rescued them. We think they are Beagle/Chihuahua mixes 🐶

Sammy, the tan one, is a boy who so far has been easygoing with spurts of energy. 💚

Stevie, the brown and white one, is a girl with lots of curiosity and playfulness.☀️

Keep an eye out for updates, they will be looking for their new dog moms in a few weeks ☺️

Meet Charlie 🕺 Charlie is a 21lb, 3yr old Cocker Spaniel. Charlie is a sweet guy who gets along with all people(not sure about kids). Charlie walks good on a leash, and even knows some basic commands. Charlie gets along with other dogs, but can sometimes be a little dominant, he responds to correction quickly, so it has not been a problem. Charlie is crate trained, micochipped, neutered, vaccinated, and up to date on his rabies vaccine.
