Here’s a nice saddle that came in for a general cleaning and nourishing service. Notice the before pictures show a lot of white ingrained into the tooling. That’s because somebody at one time or another applied some type of a paste wax or conditioner to the Saddle and when you do that it dries white and now it’s time for toothpick and toothbrush. Very tedious, time-consuming work in our shop we use Bentley‘s liquid glycerin for general cleaning and conditioning followed up by a very light warm, PURE Neatsfoot oiling and nourishing,  the Neatsfoot oil is only left on the saddle about 10 minutes and then removed with an old T-shirt, and then we redo with Bentley‘s liquid glycerin. This Saddle took several processes and lots of toothpick and toothbrush. 

This is a beautiful H. W. Starr Saddle made in Oakland California which is where I did my first four years of apprenticeship with Dale Yerian, Master Saddler, and Harness Maker. It was an honor and a pleasure to work on this Saddle.

Good morning, here’s another Saddle completed by Castleberry Saddle Shop here in Vacaville, 707-448-2972. Made by Cow Country Saddlery, pretty much a complete rebuild, new fenders, new stirrup, leathers, new Blevins, buckles, new rear, cinch straps, complete take apart, rebuild with new fleece, all hand, stitched, new strings, stir apples, Cooper ring and re-sewed all four bar pockets. And of course, a complete cleaning and nourishing. Here are the attached pictures.

Haven’t been sleeping well so have been going out to the shop and putting in extra time and we are only two weeks out or behind on work !!! So, now is a good time to bring your saddle repair jobs to Castleberry Saddle Shop. As always, we repair both English and Western saddles and tack and of course harness work and custom belts, ect. also. Give us a call at 707-448-2972 and we will schedule a time to get together.
