These four kitties need your help ❤️‍🩹

Rowan, 5 month old male:
Rowan has had litter after litter enter the kitten room with him, but he is still the one waiting after all of them have been adopted. Rowan is a shy little kitten who just needs a little extra time and patience in this big world. Once he gets to know you, he enjoys pets. In the meantime, you will usually find him napping or lounging in a cat tree.

Bear, 2 year old male:
Bear is our current longest-resident cat. Just this week, he lost his best friend in the cat room after she was adopted, so now we really need to rally around Bear to help him find his home - and maybe even a companion or two! Bear loves spending time on the patio or near a window. He loves food, catnip, and playing with other cats once he becomes friends with them.

Sam, 6 year old female:
Just like Rowan, Sam needs a little extra time and patience. She currently spends most of her days hiding under a blanket for comfort and protection. At 6 years old, entering the shelter is a transition that weighs heavily on Sam, just as it would on any animal. Sam needs someone willing to take the time to make her feel loved and safe again.

Enzo, 3 year old male:
This handsome guy has had so many people ask about him, but they always end up choosing another kitty instead. Enzo is a very loving cat who just wants all of your attention. He will follow you around the room, greet you at the door, and stick right by your side.

You'll be hearing a lot about Mohawk Valley Gives this September - but what exactly is it? 🤔

Mohawk Valley Gives established by The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties is a community-wide giving campaign that brings together nonprofits, businesses, and individuals to support organizations making a difference across our region.

Through the Staffworks Fund Save A Life Campaign powered by Mohawk Valley Gives, 11 local animal welfare organizations - including ours - receive matching donations, helping every gift go even further for animals in need 💙

Online giving takes place September 14-18, with the official Day of Giving on September 18, when participating nonprofits also have the chance to earn additional incentive prizes. Mark your calendar and help us give every animal the care, compassion, and second chance they deserve.

Our adoption days just got that much sweeter!

We wanted to extend a big thank you to Lanza Woodworks for crafting this beautiful signature bench to help us celebrate our adoptions. And, of course, thank you to Rooster for modeling it so well.

We want to be better about making sure everyone gets to take part in the happy moments of watching these animals get their second chance with a new family. You championing our mission and sharing these animals’ stories near and far is what makes all of this possible.

This pretty girl wants some attention!

Brie is one of the many adult cats in our care patiently waiting for a home. She has been at the shelter for over two months after being surrendered with three kittens still nursing. Brie was a wonderful mama cat, finishing up nursing while taking the time to heal herself. Since then, all of her kittens have been adopted, while she has received little to no interest. We're really hoping you can help us change that.

Brie is a sweet, happy girl. At 6 years old, she has nowhere she'd rather be than right by your side. As soon as you walk into the room and say hello, she'll get up just to follow you around. She's incredibly friendly, loves people, and will gladly soak up any attention you're willing to give her. You'll usually find her curled up somewhere in our Purple Cat Room, and she'll quickly become putty in your hands. She has watched so many people come and go from that room - some leaving with new family members - all without her 🙁

Brie gets along with other cats, and we are very open to a home with other animals and children. We are open tomorrow from 11AM-5PM - help us find this girl a home!

Scarlett is 6 days post-op and on the mend 🤎

We introduced you to Scarlett last week, a sweet 5 year old Saint Bernard who was surrendered to our shelter in early August. She needed surgery to correct both entropion and ectropion - two conditions, on top of dry eye, that left her barely able to see.

Truly, we can't thank our community enough for coming together to help raise the funds needed for Scarlett's surgery. Your support not only gives us the ability to provide animals like Scarlett with the medical care they deserve, but it also gives them the best possible chance to heal and find the loving, lifelong commitment they deserve. And we're happy to report that her recovery has been phenomenal - she's able to see more and more every day!

Scarlett is officially ready to find her forever home. We will begin reviewing applications in the order in which they are received. To be respectful of Scarlett's recovery and avoid overwhelming her, we will contact approved applicants to schedule a meet-and-greet.
