“Sedona” hopes everyone is having a great week and wants to remind everyone the importance of wellness exams!

Annual wellness exams establish a valid VCPR (Vet-Client-Patient Relationship) and enable our veterinarians and staff to get to know you, your horse and your horse’s normal living environment so when something abnormal or emergent comes about, we know the best possible way to handle it!

Midwest Equine did not receive or dispense any of the affected lots of Equine Adequan IM injection. If you obtained Adequan from an outside pharmacy you should check the product's lot number, and contact the place of purchase for guidance if you cannot find the lot number.

Please welcome Dr. Emily Shilling as our 2026-2027 intern veterinarian!

A southern Illinois native, Dr. Shilling has been caring for horses since she could walk. As an avid equestrian and recent graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, she is excited to continue her journey with Midwest Equine.

Her background in the equestrian sport of eventing piqued her interest in sports medicine, and lameness prevention and treatment, with a focus on proper hoof care.

Off the clock, she can be found working with her new young thoroughbred gelding, whom she hopes to train and take up through the levels of eventing.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Delight Grimes to Midwest Equine as a full-time clinician!

Read on about Dr. Grimes and how she got to MWE:

Dr. Delight Heaven Grimes was born in Lewisville, Texas, but spent most of her formative years overseas. Growing up in Honduras, Venezuela, Israel, and Mexico taught her to adapt quickly to new cultures and environments. In her childhood, Dr. Grimes discovered her passion for sports and her love of animals. She particularly loved basketball which she parlayed into a university basketball scholarship at a veterinary school in Mexico, where she graduated in 2024.

After veterinary school, Dr. Grimes completed a yearlong internship at Montana Equine. Realizing Montana winters were not for her, she headed to Illinois for a second equine medicine and surgery internship at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The cornfields won her over, and after completing her internship in June 2026, she quickly joined the Large Animal Clinic faculty as a full-time equine primary care veterinarian in July. Although, Dr. Grimes is well versed and interested in all aspects of equine medicine, her true love lies in dentistry! Routine floats, advanced odontoplasty, extractions, if it involves horses’ teeth, Dr. Grimes is all in. So, if you ever see her without her trusty dental mirror, you can be sure it’s probably not far behind!

Midwest Equine is honored to provide on site veterinary services at the Piatt County Trail Blazers Rodeo this weekend!!

Dr. Foreman-Hesterberg snapped a quick shot with two clients and patients last night -- Dasia G, the Miss Trail Blazer 2026, on her mare “Ginger,” and Grace J, the Miss Trail Blazer 2025, on her mare "Cardi.”

Catch one of our doctors there each night this weekend!!
