Labrador Retrievers bred for wonderful temperament, sound conformation and working ability in the field. Our pedigrees contain many dual titled Labradors (Champion/Master Hunters) as well as NFCs, NAFCs, and several Hall of Fame dogs. We believe in a well rounded Labrador that has correct breed conformation, strong retrieving and prey drive, and a temperament that makes for a perfect family companion in the home.

Feeling pretty rough today.

Yesterday Dad had to say goodbye to ThornValley 's Bisley -The best Labrador ever. Biz was Dad's constant companion, always by his side from 8 weeks on. From fishing and camping trips to bird hunts and boat rides or just daily walks in the park, and hanging out in the garage or yard with Dad... he was just the absolute BEST boy.

Farewell Biz. We know you'll have plenty of pheasants and ducks to chase and a nice warm woodstove to lay beside in Labrador heaven. You will be terribly missed. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ–ค

Had a great weekend in PA running the Labra-girls in the Bill Roff and TJ Stewart Memorial United Field Trialers Association trial.

Luna and Maddie both had some awesome runs, but we just couldn't quite catch that lucky break they needed to get on the podium. In a 45 dog trial with some of the best in the nation, you need all the luck you can get! Saw some awesome dog work this weekend!

Indy stayed home with Lori to hopefully get some puppies baking ๐Ÿ™(more on that later).

HOWEVER, RPM ' s little British Rocket ENVY got her first UFTA placement this weekend. She is incredibly fun to run and we are super excited to have her on Team ThornValley.

Upland hunters have raised valid concerns about vague language written into the current Farm Bill proposal that would have impacts on the training of bird dogs and hunting dogs.

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are working with legislators on both sides of the aisle to ensure that clarifying language will uphold Americaโ€™s hunting heritage, while contributing to a strong Farm Bill that is good for farmers, wildlife, rural economies and hunters.

This post is weeks late BUT we wanted to take a moment to officially welcome our newest member of the ThornValley GunDogs family-

RPM's I Can See it in Your Eyes ... call name "ENVY"

You may have seen posts and videos of us training Envy for our friends Amy and Scott Kuchenbecker helping her transition from shed antler work to upland birds for tournament trials. We absolutely fell in love with this little girl, and through an amazingly generous offer from Scott she is now a permanent family member. Thank you so much again Scott and Amy for the opportunity to make this sweet puppy ours.

Envy is a British Labrador in the true sense of the word. Her father "Miller" is an FTCH sired, UK import, who Scott has excelled with in the shed dog world, earning the Elite Shed Dog title and Hall Of Fame status.

Envy's mom "Willow" is a direct Irish import and is also FTCH sired. Willow is also a shed dog extraordinaire earning her Grand Champion Shed Dog title.

Envy is freshly back from the Elite Shed Dog National Championship where Travis Meadows of Meadows Labs / RPM Retrievers South Campus handled her to a top 10 finish in the Working class. (Thanks Travis for handling her and taking such great care of her on the trip).Pretty amazing performance for a puppy thats mostly been working on birds for the last several months. Just two weeks before that she was at the United Field Trialers Association Nationals chasing quail.

We plan to continue this dual roll of birds and sheds and likely add in some hunt test games and ... who knows what else. This little girl can and will excell at it all, given the chance. We just can't wait to see what she accomplishes. ๐Ÿ’›

Well. Ive done all I can do apparently. FACEBOOK is absolutely ignorant.

Morons controlling what is and isnt viewed based on idiotic AI software that clearly isnt capable of determining anything.

Just about right as a sign of the times. Welcome to the modern world of AI analytics and digital control where you have no ability to fight injustice once a "review" is done by some stupid bot with zero ability to decipher content.

Hopefully the whole platform eventually implodes on itself under the weight of its idiocy.

These messages are always so tough to get, but we are also SO thankful for the wonderful owners who take such good care of our puppies.

Rest in peace sweet Willow.

This one was especially poignant because this sweet puppy stayed with us an extra month or so due to a freak accident that occurred the day she was set to go home. She mended perfectly and we named her "Tuffy" because she was such a tough little girl through the whole broken foot ordeal.

She clearly had a wonder 14.5 years with her family.

"I wanted to let you know that our beloved Willow passed away today. She was the chocolate lab that got her foot broken on the morning we were coming to pick her up. I wanted to thank you for allowing us to be part of her life. She was the best dog I have ever had the pleasure to know and she will be missed dearly!"

Weekend United Field Trialers Association Field Trial report for ThornValley-

Pretty nice weekend for the pups, and its safe to say we are ALL exhausted ๐Ÿ˜†

Thanks Colin Fowler for hosting yet another great trial at Fairchild's Pheasant Farm! And thanks Darin for the use of the awesome grounds! Thanks Ally and MaryBeth for judging and Casey for planting!

๐Ÿ’›FLUSHING-
Puppy LUNA carried the day with 2 First Place wins in the Amateur field! Once with Lori and once with Scott! She's turning into a nice little birddawg!

Indy and Maddie both had placements in Open with a 2nd and 3rd and Luna right on their heels with a 4th!

Ms. Maddie Mae rocked the Doubles field, which seems to be her specialty, getting another 1st Place win!

We only ran one of the Pointer Sisters this weekend, but Faith didn't disappoint, coming away with her own 1st Place finish in Amateur Pointing. ๐Ÿ–ค

Exhausting but fun weekend! Whew.

The ThornValley Labra-Girls rocked it this weekend at the Columbia Game Club's United Field Trialers Association Doubles Flushing trials.

Ms.Maddie Mae got a 1st place finish and little Luna got a second and a third in Doubles. Luna has really blossomed since the Nationals and is hunting hard and retrieving like a champ.
