Our adoptions happen on a first come, first served basis. You must be 18 years or older to adopt.

To view animals available for adoption, visit the website 24Petconnect.com under "adopt a pet" ,enter zip code 20772, and select Prince Georges County Animal Services Division to view the available animals in the facility. Please visit us at 3750 Brown Station Road in Upper Marlboro, MD during our normal business hours (Tuesday-Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

). You do not need to be a resident of Prince George's county to adopt a pet from us! Animals are placed as household pets only. You are not permitted to adopt animals for guarding, hunting or mousers. In accordance with Prince George's County law, all female pets MUST be spayed and all male pets neutered. Animals adopted out will be spayed/neutered before going home. If a medical condition prohibits spay/neuter at the time of adoption, a contract will be signed to bring the pet back for spay/neuter surgery at a later date. The animal must be maintained in accordance with the licensing and other laws of the community in which it resides and be provided with routine and emergency veterinary care as required. It is the objective of the Animal Services Division to place pets from the Facility in the most suitable home available for both the pet and the family. We reserve the right not to place an animal, to refuse or deny any application, or to make recommendations to consider another selection.

Have you ever met a scared and heartbroken Corso? It will break your heart too. Meet Vesper A570782. This beautiful 2-year-old, 89lb Cane Corso lost her home and her family when her owners were evicted. Now she finds herself in a busy shelter, confused and frightened by everything around her. She has been at the shelter since 6/1.

Vesper is timid, shy, and incredibly sweet. She isn’t the type of dog who will rush up to strangers asking for attention. Instead, she’s quietly waiting for someone patient enough to earn her trust. Once she feels safe, her gentle nature begins to shine through.

The shelter is a difficult place for a sensitive soul like Vesper. Every day here is stressful, and she desperately needs a calm home where she can decompress, feel secure, and learn that she’s loved again.

Vesper walks well on leash, potties outside right away, and has shown us she knows “sit”. Because Vesper has not yet participated in playgroup, her preferences with other dogs are currently unknown. Any introductions to resident pets should be done thoughtfully.

Vesper doesn’t need perfection—she just needs a chance. If you have patience, compassion, and room in your heart for a big girl who needs help finding her footing again, Vesper is waiting for you.

Please don’t let this scared girl spend any longer in the shelter than she has to.

🚨 URGENT NEED FOR SHELTER VOLUNTEERS! 🚨

Prince George’s County Animal Services is over capacity, and we need YOUR help more than ever! 🐾
Volunteers are the heartbeat of our shelter—they walk and train dogs, socialize cats, help with feeding and cleaning, support adoptions at offsite events, and so much more. Without enough volunteers, our animals miss out on the enrichment, love, and exercise they desperately need while waiting for their forever homes.

👉 We have upcoming orientations:
📅Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 5 PM
📅Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10 AM

💡 Teens (14–17 years old) can complete required school service hours (non-animal handling tasks).
💡 Adults (18+) can work hands-on with animals after orientation and a facility tour.

Looking for a fun-loving companion with a youthful spirit and a heart full of love? Meet Patrick, a handsome 2-year-old pup who still has plenty of puppy energy and enthusiasm for life!

When a volunteer recently took Patrick out for a walk, it was clear he was thrilled to be outside. After eagerly making his way through the doors and catching up on all the exciting smells around him, Patrick settled into a much calmer pace and showed his softer side. Once he'd had a chance to stretch his legs, explore, and sniff to his heart's content, he relaxed completely, flopping onto the grass for pets and affection.

If you're looking for a handsome, playful, and intelligent companion, Quasim may be your perfect match!

The moment a volunteer spotted Quasim peering out from his kennel, it was impossible to resist his expressive face that seemed to say, "Pick me!" And once he got outside, Quasim quickly showed what a wonderful dog he is.

Quasim was easy to leash and eager to get outdoors. After spending some time taking care of business, he settled into his walk and demonstrated that he's likely had some training in the past. Despite his excitement and strength on leash, he responds beautifully to cues like "sit" and "wait," making it clear that this smart boy is eager to work with his people.

One of Quasim's favorite activities is watching other dogs. During a recent outing, he met adoptable Husky Arctic (A569722) through a fence and immediately mirrored her playful energy. The two bounced around happily together, and Arctic even gave him a sweet little kiss through the fence! It was clear that Quasim enjoyed the interaction and may do well with a playful canine companion after proper introductions.

Quasim is looking for a family that can provide regular walks, playtime, and plenty of opportunities to burn off energy and have fun. In return, he'll provide endless smiles, loyalty, and companionship.
