A great update to receive from one of our clients!
Halito! My name is Morgan B. Page, a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, and now the first lawyer in my family line. This summer I graduated with my Juris Doctor, magna cm laude, from Penn State Dickinson Law. Additionally, I passed the Pennsylvania Bar Exam with a score high enough to become a licensed attorney in any UBE Jurisdiction. Currently I am employed as a Judicial Law clerk for the Honorable Ivan L.R. Lemelle, Senior United States District Judge in the Eastern District of Louisiana.

I grew up in Durant, Oklahoma, in the Choctaw Nation. McGirt v. Oklahoma was decided the summer I graduated from high school, and suddenly, either joyfully or resentfully, Oklahomans became aware of the fact that the Tribal nations whose boundaries exist within Oklahoma were still here and that their reservation status was still intact. In the summer of 2022, my senior year of college, Dobbs and Castro-Huerta were issued within days of one another. Two opinions that seemingly were unrelated, but as a young Native woman living in Oklahoma, I quickly realized how impactful the law was in my life and how little those deciding it, litigating it, and writing it, were representative of me. I subsequently took the LSAT and applied for law school.

During law school I continued with my goal of creating a legal field more representative and inclusive of Native Americans. I served on the board of directors for the National Native American Law Students Association, and I was a Senior Editor and published in the Dickinson Law Review, where I was awarded the Thomas Beckley Award for legal writing for my scholarship on Indian Law in Oklahoma. Now, I feel incredibly honored to serve in the Federal Judiciary as a law clerk and to help make it more representative of our people and community.

The higher education department and Becky Hilton were instrumental and a resource for me through three years of law school and through studying for and taking the bar exam. Because of the support of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and my family, I truly have my dream job and have accomplished every goal I set for myself throughout my education and career journey.

Our last birthday for October is our dog loving Tracy Lick! She is not only an advocate for tribal members, she has several "fur babies" that she has rescued. Her heart is so big! Here are some thoughts from her friends and co-workers.
