Kentucky Pets Alive is a volunteer based 501c(3) organization that was originally formed in August 2008 as Shelby County No Kill Mission of Kentucky, Inc. with the mission to save all adoptable animals at The Shelby County Animal Shelter , which was an open admission municipal shelter until July 2014. We assisted the shelter in becoming the first no kill community shelter in Kentucky and helped ma

intain the no kill status for 6 years by providing the following programs: foster care, microchips for every animal adopted, collars and leashes for transported animals, medical care/supplies to sick and injured, the operation and funding of an inhouse spay/neuter clinic, offsite adoption sites/events and volunteers to assist with the physical/emotional care of the animals. During these six years, over 10,000 animals left the shelter alive. In August 2014, Shelby County No Kill Mission and the Shelby County Animal Shelter went separate ways. We changed our name but not our mission. Our new name, Kentucky Pets Alive, continues to reflect our mission: Every Life Matters. We will assist animals throughout Kentucky as our volunteer and support base accommodates.

Hugley was rescued from a county shelter with his mom and brother Huxley. Their mom has found a home but the brothers are bonded are searching for a forever home together. They are extra special because they are polydactyls which means they have extra toes! Hugley had an eye infection in his left eye that left him with a scar but it does not slow him down! Hugley is here to remind you to vote to help KPA!!

When Mama Misty came to us she was trying to survive outside. She had kittens but they did not survive. She was found to have an old injury to one of her back legs that did not heal right due to no vet care and she was in a lot of pain. After X-rays and evaluation with our vet, the decision was made to amputate. She recovered well and is the sweetest girl! Juliana noticed her at Petsmart and fell in love! We love repeat adopters (Felicia)!🎉🎉Congrats to Juliana and Mama Misty!💕💕

Ronnie was found after being attacked by a dog. She sustained ear and leg trauma, and had nerve damage to her left front leg. Thankfully her leg did not have to be amputated. She is also a FIP survivor and has a scar on her left eye. She has had a rough start but she is more than ready for her forever home! Ronnie is asking you to remember to vote today!

Lennix was rescued from a county shelter with her sisters Lenni and Lennyn. They all had fleas and upper respiratory infections. Thanks to KPA they got the vet care and treatments needed. Then Taylor came by to visit with our kitties at an adoption event and fell in love with Lennix! The rest is history! Congrats Taylor and Lennix! Welcome to Kentucky Pets Alive!💕💕

Brewster was rescued with his siblings from the euthanasia list of a county shelter. He is the last of the litter. His siblings have been adopted. But while in foster he became bonded with Gouda. They are looking for a forever home together. Brewster is here to remind you to vote to help KPA!!

We are catching up on some more adoption stories this weekend!🎉🎉
Xyla & Xander were rescued with their mom Xia from a shelter that euthanizes for space. We took them in and got them vet care and a great foster! We are so glad that Morgan saw them at one of our events!! Now they have a forever home with a great mom. Thanks to Morgan for giving Xyla & Xander a home together!😻😻
