Nosy K9

Rudi, demo dog:
On Monday I did a little K9 NoseWork demo with Rudi at the private school where I am renting space for my indoor searches.
I let the children set the hides for me. They liked that Rudi had to find these.
Then we did a little about dog safety and bite prevention. Afterwards the children who wanted to, could give Rudi some treats.

The Simi Valley Nosework class did a 3 hide container search, followed by a scent wall exercise, followed by a suspended hide over a sand volleyball court.

Today's NoseWork class in Camarillo got to search the tool rental room at a local Home Depot store.
Due to the various door frames, high ceilings, etc. it had an interesting airflow.

Tonight's NoseWork class did 3 container searches, plus an exterior search. Only got 2 pictures of the search areas.
Distractors in the boxes were: lip balm, dried beef treats, chicken, extracted dog teeth, used frying oil soaked into a paper towel.

The 2nd Sniff n Go at the Chumash Indian Museum in Thousand Oaks is a wrap!!

Thank you to all the handler and dog teams that came to search this great location. Some came from quite a distance, Some were locals.
We had 50+ teams, a mix of novice dogs and all the way up to Elite.
The great thing: we got invited to come back. Thank you to Dayle Bingham for vouching for us before the board.
I will schedule something for the late winter or early spring.
The uncomfortable thing I have to face is that we ran late and I take responsibility for that as the organizer. My sincere apologies to all that had to wait in the heat and humidity. I will improve on my scheduling skills.
A big thank you to my co-coach Melissa Casanova and my superb parking lot crew Lindia Brown and Joyce Greenberg . Couldn't have done that without you ladies.
