Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Puerto Rico street dogs.

Paws4Survival is a nonprofit (501c3) organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Puerto Rico street dogs. We provide veterinary care, shelter, and socialization in a daycare facility to prepare these dogs for adoption in the New York and New England area. Our strategic plan focuses on the town of Arroyo in the Southeastern part of the island, however we always help with pleas from l

ocal rescuers. Within Arroyo, there are two beach areas, Playa Chiropolis and Malecon in which we work to keep the dogs safe from animal control. Our volunteers provide basic shelter, food and water and care is provided until an opening in our program is available. Dogs that are not candidates for our program are captured for spay/neuter and returned to the beach to live under our care.

Jay was looking for her very first dog as an adult, and from the moment she met Glory, it was love at first sight.

After spending years in a kennel run in Puerto Rico, Glory was finally getting her chance at a home of her own. Before she left with Jay, we decided to remove a mass near her mammary gland—something that is often benign, but we wanted to be safe.

On Monday, the pathology results came back: carcinoma.

With heavy hearts, we immediately called Jay. We quietly prepared ourselves for the possibility that this diagnosis might be more than someone was willing to take on. Then her message came through:

"I would still love to move forward and have Glory in my life."

And just like that, everything felt a little brighter.

Glory's diagnosis does not define her. She deserves love, comfort, and a family just as much as any other dog. Thanks to Jay, that's exactly what she's getting.

So today, Glory went home. ❤️

Recently, we received some heartbreaking news: our sweet Glory was diagnosed with a carcinoma-type cancer, giving her an estimated 1 to 3 years to live. It felt devastating... but this story doesn’t end in sadness.
We witnessed something that completely restored our faith in humanity.

Today will be the second day, Shifu is admitted to the vet for fluids, medication and testing.
He will not eat and is lethargic, at 2.9 pounds this is a critical situation. Our funds were already depleted and adoptions at an all time low before we welcomed him and his brother into our rescue last Thursday night.
Now we wait for answers,
Now we pray, for the pint size warrior fighting for his precious life.
And in a day or two we will need to decide if for the first time in 11 years, we close our doors to dog intake 🥲

🚨 ADOPTIONS ARE DOWN, VET BILLS ARE UP. WE NEED YOU. 🚨

It is a heartbreaking reality right now, but we have to be completely honest with our community: we are drowning.

Right now, we have beautiful, sweet, loving rescue dogs like HELENA sitting in foster care. They are ready for their forever homes, but we are receiving ZERO applications.

Because dogs are staying in our care much longer, and the cost of veterinary care, food, transport, and basic supplies has skyrocketed, our funds and our hearts are completely drained. We cannot keep saving lives without your backing.

Even if you cannot adopt or foster right now, the absolute least you can do is help us beat the algorithm. Interacting with this post takes 5 seconds and costs nothing, but it could be the reason Helena's future family finally sees her.

One year with my forever family, and I think I’ve trained them pretty well. They renamed me Kimchi, keep fresh tunnels (grocery bags) stocked at all times, and supply an endless stash of springs, my only acceptable toys.

I’ve perfected the art of fluff, mastered blanket ambushes (they’re still learning to accept this), and even reached a working truce with my older sister, Itty. Best of all, I get regular outdoor adventures to sniff everything and watch birds, safely, of course. I’d say I landed exactly where I belong.
