12-year-old Ginger is a 30-pound beagle mix. She is described as "an outgoing, playful girl who loves receiving affection". Ginger has been with the same family since he was about a year old, when she was adopted from a shelter. Life changes for her humans mean life changes for Ginger. We'd love to help this girl find the loving, forever home she needs.

Ginger has never lived with another dog. Her family says she is appropriately social with dogs she meets. This leads us to believe she could share her home with another dog who is friendly. A dog buddy in her new home could help her settle in and adapt. We have seen it happen firsthand! Ginger does not like cats. She has done well with children who are respectful and kind.

While she is a senior, that does not stop her from being playful and energetic. Her favorite game is fetch; she loves to play with her people! Ginger enjoys daily walks, going on 2 walks each day. She is well-behaved on leash. She can manage stairs at this time. The benefit of a mature dog like Ginger is that she is happy lounging around the house, appreciating the company of her people.

Ginger has stayed home alone without issue, managing a while between potty breaks. When a dog moves into a new home, one must always give grace and show compassion as a dog works through the process of losing its last home. It is reported that Ginger does not bark much, just to let you know when someone is at the door. She is very happy to welcome you home, wagging her tail and buzzing with excitement!

As we always remind potential adopters, Ginger's new family should be able and willing to afford her veterinary care. She may need dental care, which is very important to provide her with if needed. We are told that Ginger hears well; her eyes are showing their age, but she appears to have no vision changes.

This girl has been a loyal companion for many years. Her family says she is a low-maintenance dog who is easy-going. We think Ginger sounds terrific!

Ginger is located in Kenmore, WA. For contact information please email: [email protected]

This is not an Old Dog Haven dog. Old Dog Haven has not assessed this dog for medical issues and will not be responsible for medical care after adoption. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.

We have been asked by our dog team to share Bex again. We'd love to get him into a home where we can begin care.

PERMANENT Old Dog Haven FOSTER HOME NEEDED:
(located in W. Washington state or Portland, OR only)

"Bex" is a yorkie or yorkie mix, not-yet-neutered male, who weighs 9 pounds.
This little guy finds himself in a shelter with a terrible mouth that really needs a skilled dental. He has very few teeth left but several oronasal fistulas which ideally would be repaired (not an easy thing in a dog this size). He has a cough likely
due to tracheal collapse issues and a stiff gait in the back end, but
bloodwork shows his organs working well - just lots of stress and dental
infection.

Shelter staff say he's good with other dogs and sweet to handle (well, except for vaccines when he first came in, poor guy). We would so like to get him out of the shelter and into an Old Dog Haven home where we can get help for his mouth. Please let us know right away if you might be interested.

To read more about joining our network of homes, please read through the link below. Our applications manager is ready for your email 😁and Bex is ready to leave the shelter!

We are bummed to see that Ringo is still in need of an adoptive home. What's the hold-up? Ringo sounds like a wonderful dog. He is a cross-post for Adopt-A-Pet of Shelton Washington .

Ringo is an 8-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who weighs 100 pounds. Ringo has a heart as big as his smile! Ringo has been waiting for a family to love him for a long time.

Ringo is described as an "all-star cuddle buddy" who will happily snuggle up with you. He is a quiet and tidy boy who is calm and easygoing. Ringo has an easy-going, happy temperament that makes him the perfect companion.

Ringo enjoys playing fetch with his favorite tennis balls and would thrive in a home with a large, secure yard. He needs an experienced dog owner who can appreciate his size and personality.

Ringo needs a no other dogs or pet environment and would do best in an all-adult home with teenagers.

Ringo is posted for Adopt-A-Pet in Shelton, WA. For more information on Ringo and how to adopt him, please go to the shelter website here:

Asher is another dog you all have shared that is still in need. We can't understand this! He sounds like a fantastic dog. Asher's owners has said last month they needed to move him ASAP. He has had a total of three inquiries from people that did not follow through 😔Let's help Asher avoid a shelter intake by sharing him today!

9-year-old Asher is a very handsome fellow. He is a 68-pound yellow lab and American Foxhound. Asher has decided he would rather not live in a home with children, so we hope to help him find that home!

Asher has lived with other dogs his size and smaller. We are told he is good with other dogs, but he will bark at cats. He has visited a home with a cat but never lived with one. His behavior may bother cats, so our suggestion would be that Asher have a cat-free home.

This boy has so many things going for him! He is very smart. Asher knows many verbal commands. He went through 2 years of training, learning to find and search! If you are a person who enjoys an active, intelligent job and finding things for them to do, Asher could be a good fit for you.

Asher is kennel-trained, managing quite a few hours between potty breaks. He has been fine staying alone in his home when his humans leave the house. Of course, he should be given time to acclimate to a new home and routine. We would all hope for that if our lives suddenly changed dramatically, right?

Walks are appreciated by Asher and enjoyed by the person at the other end of his leash because of his training. Asher loves to play with his toys and fetch too. He can do stairs without a problem at this time. When it's time to relax, Asher is good at that too. He loves to sit and receive affection from his humans. He will bark when he sees strangers outside but he is good about stopping when he's told to.
Asher is described as "a very sweet dog who will fill his owners with absolute joy". This awesome dog is ready to complete an adult-only home.

Asher is located in Olympia, WA. For contact information please email: [email protected]

Another senior shelter dog needs an Old Dog Haven home. We are looking for a home to send him to for the rest of his days. Our fosters keep the dogs forever; this is why we call them "forever fosters" .Once we find his home, we will cover all of his veterinary care for life (thanks to donations).

If you are not able to foster, you can still help Bex by sharing our plea. Thanks, Friends!

Happy Saturday Everyone. We think the weekend is a great day to go to a shelter and adopt a dog, don't you think? Beau is ready to go home! He's a cross post for the kind people at the Lewis County Animal Shelter/Official site for the shelter in Chehalis, WA .

"Hello! My name is Beau. I am a 9.5-year-old German Shepherd. The shelter scale is broken but the folks say I weigh between 95 and 100 pounds. I was brought to the shelter because my family was breaking up. My younger sister Ezra was brought here too. The nice people here thought they would adopt us out together. I love my sister, but it appears my sister no longer wants anything to do with me!

I get along with other medium-large breed dogs, but I will need a home with NO small dogs, cats, or chickens!! I do have a prey drive and tend to go after small animals. I would be best suited for a home with older kids, as I do not care for my personal space to be invaded for long periods of time.

I know most basic commands and am a pretty well-mannered boy. I was used to having 5 acres to roam on, so I am not super great at walking on leash. I had been living mostly as an outside dog, but I am potty trained. I am ready to leave that lifestyle of being stuck outside FAR behind!

I am very friendly, but I do have boundaries. A home with someone kind and familiar with my breed would be best for me. My sister and I were bred in Europe and brought to the United States as puppies. Maybe there's someone out there who cares about such things? I just want to find a home!

I am already neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, now ready to find my new loving family!"

Beau is posted for the Lewis County Animal Shelter located in Chehalis, WA. To learn more about Beau and adopting him, please visit the shelter website:

Rocket is a 60-pound Labrador Retriever who is estimated to be about 8 years old.

This very handsome boy was brought to the shelter by a good Samaritan as a stray. Rocket can be shy at first. He needs time to get to know you, and once he is given the time he needs, he can show his true loving and devoted nature.

Rocket has a lot of energy, he loves to play. He will be happiest with lots of exercise and something to keep my mind busy. The great thing about a young senior like Rocket is that he knows when it's time to relax. He will thrive in a home that keeps him active but one where he can have quiet downtime as well.
Rocket is ready to become someone's lifelong devoted friend!

Rocket is posted for the Regional Animal Services of King County in Kent, WA. If you are interested in adopting him, you can find more information on the Regional Animal Services of King County website www.kingcounty.gov/pets or email [email protected] Adoption Center is open on weekdays from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm

This is not an Old Dog Haven dog. Old Dog Haven has not assessed this dog for medical issues and will not be responsible for medical care after adoption. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
