Understanding Kennel Cough & Our Commitment to Your Pet's Health

What is Kennel Cough?
Kennel cough is a highly contagious respiratory infection, much like a human cold, that causes a dry, hacking cough in dogs. It spreads through airborne droplets, direct contact, or shared surfaces. Because it is common in pet communities, we want to share the strict measures we take to keep your furry family members safe.

🐾 An Experienced, Proactive Approach
With over 25 years in the animal care industry and a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, I am fully committed to using my background to make safe, informed determinations regarding when a pet should or should not be allowed into our facility. Part of this involves continuously monitoring the prevalence of kennel cough in our local area so we can stay ahead of any potential outbreaks.

🐾 Deep Personal Relationships & Monitoring
Because many of our clients are scheduled with us every 4 to 6 weeks, we know most of our furry visitors very personally. This close bond allows us to immediately notice if a dog's behavior or energy seems off. If we spot anything unusual, we will mention it to you right away so you can assess whether your pet might need to see a vet or be quarantined, ensuring we keep all the animals in our care safe.

🐾 Our Strict Safety and Sanitation Protocols
Even though kennel cough is an inherent risk whenever pets leave the home, our salon is specifically structured to minimize exposure:
Strict Separation: We do not allow any direct interaction or socializing between pets.
Individual Housing: All animals are kept in their own comfortable, completely separate cages during their stay.

🐾 Short Stay Times: Your pets are never with us for long. Animals are in our facility for a maximum of four hours, and many are ready to be picked up in under three hours.

🐾 Hospital-Grade Sanitation: Between every use, our kennels are thoroughly sanitized using a professional 256 kennel cleaner. This specialized formula is specifically engineered to target and eliminate tough pathogens, including kennel cough.

🐾 A Team Effort
Our customers are incredibly diligent about routine vaccinations and keeping us aware of any potential health issues with their dogs before their appointments, and we are so grateful for this partnership. By working together, we can keep our salon a safe, happy, and healthy place for your beloved companions.

Thank you for your continued trust in our care!

We just received a counterfeit $20. Unfortunately, we didn’t notice it until we went to make a deposit, but just a heads up to everyone! We always prefer cash whenever possible, but check your bills! I guess we will have to start checking too.

Ever wonder why your dog shakes at drop off? There’s more to it than you think and this might help ease your mind about what’s really going on a physiological level. 💡

Why is my dog shaking? They must be terrified! 🥺 Can we bust a major biological myth? 👇

If you own a smaller breed, especially a Toy Poodle, Maltese, or Chihuahua, you have likely seen them turn into a little vibrating washing machine the moment they walk into the vet clinic, a busy park, or the grooming salon.

As pet parents, our hearts instantly sink. We assume they are frozen in pure terror or experiencing trauma.

But biologically? You might be completely misreading the room.

Welcome to "Psychogenic Tremors" (aka: The Sports Car Effect) Smaller breeds possess a naturally high metabolic rate and an incredibly sensitive nervous system. Their internal engines essentially "idle" at a much higher RPM than a big Golden Retriever.

When they enter an environment where they know a specific routine is about to happen, their brain instantly releases a massive wave of adrenaline and cortisol. This isn't automatically a sign of fear, it is pure anticipation and hyper-focus.

Because they have such tight, compact little muscle masses, that sudden, explosive surge of kinetic energy has nowhere to go. Their nervous system processes this sudden backlog of internal electricity by shivering to safely burn it off.

Think of it like this: It is exactly the same as a human getting intense butterflies, a racing heart, or shaky hands right before they step onto a stage to give a big speech or ride a roller coaster. They aren't in physical danger or pain; their body is just firing on absolutely all cylinders to prepare for what’s next! ⚡

The moment they get into their rhythm and that adrenaline naturally flushes out of their system, the vibrations stop.

So the next time your little one starts to shiver at check-in, take a deep breath. They aren't broken, and you shouldn't feel guilty, their little sports car engine is just revving up! 🤍

Groomers and Pet Professionals: Feel free to share this to your pages to help ease your clients' check-in guilt! 🔄
