Just wanted to clear up some confusion after seeing comments on a recent post.
Sometimes a foster-to-adopt situation simply doesn’t work out, and that’s okay.
The purpose of fostering is to determine whether a pet is the right fit for a home. If a foster family decides it isn’t the best match, it is better for the pet to be returned so we can find the right home for them. While the process can take weeks or even months, the pet is safe and cared for.
I am a volunteer for the shelter that this page supports. This is not the shelter’s official page—it is a page created to help promote the shelter and its animals. In addition to working a full-time job, I volunteer for both the shelter and a rescue organization. I do my best to keep information updated and to post lost and found pets as quickly as possible.
Over the years, Union has grown significantly and now faces many of the challenges of a larger city. The shelter’s small staff is incredibly dedicated and works hard every day with the resources they have. They handle everything from wildlife calls (when legally permitted), to cat overpopulation, hoarding situations, neglected animals, and many other issues.
When I post adoptable pets, I ask for photos and a brief description. Sometimes I have the opportunity to meet the animals myself, which is always helpful. I do my best to include important details such as whether a pet is good with cats, dogs, or children. However, I still receive many questions that are already posted.
We understand people are worried about the shelters location, please go to the township committee meetings and you can have your voice heard.
