POSTING FOR FAMILY IN NEED - DOG IS NOT AT THE SHELTER

Here is some information about him:

Name: Oliver
Breed: Black Labrador Retriever
Age: 5 years old (August birthday)
Weight: Approximately 100+ pounds
Neutered: Yes

Oliver is house-trained, affectionate, playful, and loves being around people. He absolutely loves playing fetch and anything involving water. He enjoys being part of the family and knows several commands, including sit, stay, down, over, paw, leave it, drop it, come, and up.

Unfortunately, over the past year, Oliver has developed resource-guarding behaviors. He has growled when approached while eating a treat or resting and has recently shown concerning behavior around my children. Although he has never bitten anyone, I no longer feel he can safely live in a home with children.

I believe Oliver would do best in an adult home with someone experienced with large dogs who can provide structure, consistency, and continue working with him. He has so many wonderful qualities, and my hope is that he can find a loving home where he can thrive.
