Droopy Basset Rescue

We want to send a big Thank you to the Anne Klavora and the girls of troop #30512, for their wonderful donation in memory of Lizzy Williams who passed away in Feb. The girls wanted to do something special to help the Bassets Lizzy loved. They all worked hard to raise funds for items Droopy needs to groom our foster bassets. And boy did they surprise us at DBHR with so many new tools we can use! Thank you so much 🥰

We at DBHR are very sad to let you know that one of our core group volunteers has unexpectedly passed away.
Lisa (Kay on fb) Burhart Chalmers was one of Droopy's original volunteers for more years than we can remember. She was always ready to help with whatever was needed from house checks to adoptions to fostering, to fundraising and so much more.
Every year for Slobberfest Lisa would smoke and prepare the most wonderful pulled pork, make BLT salad and provide all the snacks and paper products for our food Booth as a donation!
She would drive to Droopy headquarters at the drop of a hat from Pittsburgh no matter what we needed. She was a very good friend to many of us for all these years.
She and her husband Dave donate much of their time and pig smoking skills not just to us at Droopy but also to their local community, especially law-enforcement.
Lisa purchased and sold candy bars a police headquarters for many years and then donated all the proceeds to us.
She won many Basset auction items only to turn around and donate them for us to use.
We are all quite shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of such a dear generous friend.
Our sincere condolences and love to her hubby Dave and to her daughters and grandchildren. Not only did they lose Lisa but just a few days later her elderly father passed away.

These two photos were a couple of her favorites of herself with her dad.

We will miss you Lisa as well as Mr. B ❤️‍🩹

All of Us At Droopy Central are sending out a huge ARHOO of thanks to the folks at Kanis grooming for donating a glorious grooming table to Droopy BHR. It just came yesterday and boy is it beautiful and so well made! We all know some Bassets are... a bit chunky (our old table had been groaning and wobbling for a few years now) this table lowers enough for any basset to be able to step on and is whisper quiet when lowering and raising. and since it is on wheels I can use it to lift them to the bathing sink! Kanis table is so sturdy and came with grooming bar that will help hold the bassets in place safely. I am so impressed with this table and this company's commitment to animal welfare groups. This table will make grooming and bathing fosters less stressful for both the basset and me :) I am so grateful and excited, (this will also give my back a much needed reprieve). Thank you Alex, for all your help!
