Photos from a recent equine surgery, in which a large tumor was successfully removed. Standing surgery with sedation and local anesthesia is often used for horses, because they can suffer serious complications from full general anesthesia.

After years of professional service to the communities of Cooperstown and Unadilla, Dr. Francis Fassett will be retiring. His last day with Valley Veterinary Associates will be June 27, 2026.

He is a walking encyclopedia of veterinary knowledge and experience. For that he will be missed. We will also miss his kind and practical approach to patient care.

He is looking forward to spending time with his family and exploring the world. Best wishes to Dr. Fassett from his VVA family.
