I’ve been quietly caring for something remarkably special—of course in between tending to Geno and making sure that boy still knows he is the star of our world. I’m finally ready to share her with you.
The last two foaling seasons have been intentionally smaller than the ones you’ve seen from us in years past. I’ll write more soon about the environmental pieces we were fighting, how we’ve learned to manage these neonates on farm, and the new protocol that has proven it can save them. But today belongs only to gratitude and joy.
Without further ado, Soul Wind Horses is proud to announce Acerina SW.
She is the first filly by our stallion Acero SW. Acerina is homozygous dun carrying pearl. Grulla. Utterly, unmistakably grulla.
Born at only 321 days, she arrived small and extremely determined. Bold and sweet, fierce and trusting. She has the conformation, type, and presence I have dreamed of since the first time I found this nearly extinct color in the PRE breed, and she is wrapped in dun.
The path I chose to bring these genetics into the program was not the easiest one I could have taken. It was the one that stayed true to what I wanted to produce and put my farm name behind though.
Her arrival is the next piece of a dream I have carried for years. A piece I waited a long time for, and somehow still wasn’t expecting this soon.
I am overflowing with gratitude—for the sweet mama who made her and carried her so safely, for the stallion who so clearly stamped her, for the quiet nights and early mornings spent tending and checking her, and for every person who has stood with me. I have the most amazing tribe who listens, who holds space when I start to crumble and go dark, who supports and encourages and keeps me focused on succeeding. Now we celebrate.
Welcome to the world, Acerina SW. We have been waiting for you, little one.
