Smith County Animal Control & Shelter Through our Field Services, we aim to protect community members and neglected animals by enforcing laws and educating the public.

Through our Shelter Services we provide quality care and seek positive outcomes for all animals that come through our doors. This page is for dialog between the Animal Control Division and the citizens of Smith County. Storm and Beauty are Adopted !

We are excited to share a great adoption post this Friday afternoon
A wonderful family stopped by late one afternoon to meet our dogs - considering one for their beautiful girls. They met several and decided they had room in their hearts and home for two dogs. Beauty, a 6-month-old shepherd decided the girls belonged to her! Not to be outdone, Storm, an 8-month-old Doberman mix decided two girls, two laps, two dogs....
Thank you to this incredible family for visiting our shelter and choosing not one, but two fur babies and giving them the forever family they were dreaming of

THIS INCREDIBLE GUY IS LOST .......
AND NEEDS TO FIND HIS FAMILY !

This gentleman was found on CR 1235, Smith County, this afternoon.
He is a wonderful dog that does well on a leash, very calm, and easy to work with. We know his owner is looking for him.
Please help get him back home
He has been seen by a vet who determined he was injured by a car and is covered with road rash. He is being attended to and we hope his owner contacts us soon. He is currently under a 72-hour stray hold but will be available for adoption immediately after. We are overjoyed that our sweet little Marinara has been adopted!
This timid young man entered our shelter after being rescued while running down the highway. Despite being lost and afraid, we could sense his gentle spirit.
Then yesterday an incredible family braved our construction, and parking issues just meet our dogs. After one visit with Marinara, they knew he was the one! He craved affection and wanted to be held, even though he was shy.
Thank you to this grandmother and daughter, for offering Marinara a loving home where he will be cherished and never alone again.

We love posting adoptions, but this is extra special!

On Monday the Baker family visited our shelter adopting our sweet Jolene who was just ready to find a home, but while they were here, they fell in love with our hero Heeler, Falcon.
They went home with Jolene but came back today for Falcon.
Jolene has her new friends, and Falcon has the family he has been waiting for.

Exciting News... Jolene is Adopted!

We are thrilled to share that our sweet girl Jolene has found her forever home with this incredible family.
Jolene came in with Dolly and several other pups, but she is the first to find her dream family. Not only will she have friends to play with, a yard to play in and her own snuggle time, but she gets this great family complete with her own grandmother!
