It's World Otter Day! 🦦 While our giant river otters get a lot of attention for their size, our North American river otters definitely win when it comes to pure speed and acrobatics. If you’ve ever watched them for more than a few seconds, you know they basically have two modes. Full speed or fast asleep! Pearl and Oliver spend most of their day doing underwater flips, slipping and sliding down the banks and chasing each other around. They have so much energy and are quite fun to watch.

Stop by and say hi to the cuties today! They’re almost guaranteed to be putting on a show, if they're not already taking a snooze.

Huge leaps of conservation are happening right here in Tyler. Caldwell Zoo is making a global impact through special breeding programs, community education and wildlife reintroduction initiatives. It's Endangered Species Day, and we're proud to be the safe home for over thirty endangered and threatened species.

Animals like the red-ruffed lemur, reticulated giraffe, hyacinth macaw, bongo and spurred tortoise, to name a few, all face challenges in the wild like poaching and habitat loss. We also protect endangered species right here in our state. Our programs to breed and release Texas horned lizards and Attwater's prairie chickens have supported the successful reintroduction of native Texas creatures.

This Endangered Species Day, it's important to remember that together we can be champions for these incredible animals and help pave the way for a brighter future. When you visit Caldwell Zoo, you don't just experience these fascinating animals firsthand, you also play an essential role in supporting conservation efforts around the globe.
