Miss Odette is in the final stretch of her pregnancy.

These days we're getting up 3 times a night for p*e breaks (she wakes me up by flopping dramatically across my face 🀣), having multiple small meals throughout the day and absolutely insisting on being no further than 2ft away from us at any given moment πŸ₯Ή

We had our check up with her veterinarian and puppy count radiograph this week and it looks like we're expecting 2 Littles within the next week or so 🩡

Here's Odette in snoozing the day away in her little bassinet that is currently by the computer desk - Princess Odette declared that the dog bed *under* the desk was NOT close enough to her people - So, if we want to get any amount of work done on the computer, she requires her bassinet to be right next to the chair 🀣🀣 Such a delightfully spoiled little diva

Since the weather in east Texas can be quite temperamental, I've always worked very hard to ensure the Cavaliers are well acclimated to diverse conditions.

Part of this involves everyone learning very early on that we potty outside **even in the rain**, and that rain and thunder aren't scary, they are simply part of life and nothing to fret about.

Sometimes, having to go potty in the rain isn't fun for any of us (I always go out with them) - And other times, gentle summer rains are actually a lot of fun and we wish they'd never end.

Here you can see everyone playing fetch in the rain and being completely unbothered by it.

About a month ago, we were playing in the rain and we spent as much time outside as possible soaking up nice weather days in whatever capacity they arrived - If it wasn't miserably hot, or dangerous storms, we were out there!

Today we're sitting at 105Β°F ("real feel" of 115Β°F πŸ₯΅) & my county is now in a burn ban as we're terribly dry now.

With the blistering temperatures, we've had to move our prolonged outdoor playtimes to before 6:00am and after 7:30pm.

We are all eagerly awaiting Fall πŸ‚πŸ - Not only for better weather and more comfy outdoor time - But Fall here also officially means PUPPIES are on the way! 🐾

If everything goes as planned, we should have a September litter and possibly 2 October litters and we cannot wait πŸ’œ

Odette has exciting news πŸŽ‰

I finally found time in my work schedule and chaos to get her OFA Hip radiographs completed & submitted, and now she has her OFA CHIC!

Between my full time work schedule and required travel of 3.5+ hours one way to see Cardiologist and Opthalmologist for screenings, it's a bit of a juggle to get everyone everywhere they need to be at the right times - But we're doing it, lol

Aiden, Aiko, Eloise and Cammy will be up next as we just finished their annual Cardiologist & Opthalmologist screenings last month, they just aren't submitted/processed yet 😁

Anywho....

Just look at Dett-Dett-Da-Pocket-Pet's perfectly adorable happy face enjoying a day at the Guadalupe River πŸ₯Ή

I'm utterly biased, but she's just absolute perfection 🩡🩡

Odette has some valid concerns....

Though thankfully there have not been any Taylor Farms salads in her life.

Just a disgusting hobby of digging up moles, lizards or dead frogs in the yard for sun baked snacks 🀒

The perils of east Texas πŸ™„

Copperhead snakes, wasps, ground hornets and scorpions are fairly problematic in my area.

Though the timing of this rude, unprovoked assault was a bit weird as we were all out for our late bedtime potty break at 10pm - I heard a high pitched yelp and couldn't tell which pup it came from in the dark initially...

And then Miss Eloise came up with her tail tucked and her little face swollen so badly that her left eye was only able to open half way..

Got in touch with my veterinarian, promptly got injectable Diphenhydramine and pain medicine on board and within 20 minutes the swelling migrated down, she could open her eye fully but was left with this puffy lip and neck 😒

Once the swelling dissipated, I couldn't find evidence of fang marks, so we're assuming wasps/ground hornet or scorpion..

Happy to report that miss Wheezer-Beezer is finally back to normal now 🩡

mischief [mis-chif] / ˈmΙͺs tΚƒΙͺf /

noun

behavior that is slightly bad but is not intended to cause harm or serious damage

conduct or activity that playfully causes petty annoyance.

a tendency or disposition to tease, vex, or annoy.

a vexatious action.

- Whilst all of the above accurately defines the word "mischief" per the dictionary - I can't help but feel like the word is best defined by these 2 Mischief Muppets of mine:

Coraline, aka Cora-Cora-Parkour & Osha, most often referred to by her government name of Osha-Wosha-Babosha-From-Kenosha.

It's rare that I keep back 2 puppies around the same time frame and even though these 2 aren't siblings, they absolutely have paired up on their shared mission to cause as much mischief and mayhem as possible.

Not siblings genetically. But absolutely Sisters in Shenanigans.

I do adore these sweet girls πŸ’ž

Especially when they are sleeping.... Or at the very least, when I'm not the target for their mayhem πŸ˜†

But they ~do~ remind me why it's rare that I keep pups back that are close in age 🀣

Here's the Mischief Makin' Muppets climbing through my brush pile..... While we were actively trying to add to it, so of course this duo had to be RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of it all....

Yanno, to *help* right? They absolutely were right in the way, dragging brush out and into everything because they were being ~helpful~ ...

They definitely were not in the way and making yard work and brush clearing more difficult..

They would NEVVVVVA do such a thing - Toadally, they were there to be helpful 🀣

Socialization - Exposure to new sights, sounds and noises but from a safe place that allows engagement on their terms and a spot to rest when needed.

I prefer taking my Littles on outings with their stroller initially as it protects them from cooties, folks with unpredictable dogs, and allows them to engage new things comfortably without being overwhelmed.

The girls loved Lowe's despite the loud equipment noises - They got to meet new people and gobbled down a fair amount of treats during their meet and greets ...

They weren't much help choosing paint colors though - Osha in particular just wanted to eat every paint swatch I showed her .... So, the pups get zero stars in the "Being Helpful" category πŸ™„

After running errands and shopping, we stopped by a dog friendly restaurant with a climate controlled patio for lunch - They got quite a bit of attention from the staff, and of course, more treats and then zonked out in a deep sleep on the drive home.

These are my keeper kiddos from last year and early this year and I'm pretty pleased with how they are turning out so far πŸ’ž

And here we have a trio of "Blenheim Berry Burglars"

It's spring in East Texas which means it's wild dewberry season!

These prickly vines of sweet berries grow wild in various places all over the property and I've mentally mapped out the most prolific and easiest to reach vines so I can check them daily and pick the berries as they ripen.

Initially on my daily rounds, I'd get several ripe handfuls each visit from just a few vines....

And then I noticed slowly that vines I'd expect to have more ripe berries suddenly had far less than noted on the previous day.

I blamed birds at first ...

And then I started noticing some random reddish-purplish hued stains on a few of the Cavaliers.

Then those stains were more pronounced and quite heavy around their little chompers πŸ€”

And that's when I really started paying attention to the doggos when we were out walking the property.

Much to my surprise, the Cavaliers are apparently excellent mimics and have learned to harvest dewberries, and like me, they have a fondness for the berries when they are the most ripe and sweet.

Not that I blame them - They ARE yummy - I just honestly hadn't planned on sharing my seasonal wild harvest with a hoard of thieving Floofs πŸ˜‚

Sweet Coraline --Though we tend to call her "Cora-Cora-Parkour" as she's usually bouncing off of and on everyone and everything with an endearing bit of exuberance πŸ˜‚

This is my keeper baby from Cammy and she is a paternal half sibling to my darling Evelyn which was a fun outcross as Evie's sire has a uniquely low genetic COI% via Embark 🧬

Much to my exasperation, the grown doggos have not only taught Cora how to go grazing greenery with the dairy goats, but they've also shown her how delightfully fun it is to dig holes in the dirt 🫩

So, here's Miss Cora, lounging smugly in her freshly dug hole enjoying the lovely east Texas spring weather πŸ™ƒπŸ«

Keeper baby Osha πŸ’œ

Don't let that sweet face of hers fool you...

While she IS an absolute sweetheart, this clever girl pairs that pretty face with a hefty dose of mischief and mayhem.

I've got a strong suspicion that Osha will aspire to be a complete 'menace muppet' like her diva momma Odette 🀭
