Deaf dogs are more common than most people realize, and many look and act no different than any other dog. Hearing loss can be present from birth or develop gradually with age, and certain breeds, including Dalmatians, Australian Shepherds, and some terriers, are more likely to be born at least partially deaf.

Watch for signs like not responding to their name, sleeping more deeply than usual, or startling easily. When approached with guided training and meaningful adjustments to care, you can create a safe environment where they can be happy, safe, and at peace.

October has a way of making you appreciate the full picture. The animals are doing well. The land is still producing. And somewhere in that rhythm is the reason people choose this life and keep choosing it, year after year. šŸ‚šŸ‘

Here's to the shepherds and producers who take care of their animals and their land with the kind of quiet commitment that makes moments like this possible. šŸ™Œ

Going to the veterinarian doesn't have to be a battle! 🐱✨

According to the Feline Veterinary Medical Association and International Society of Feline Medicine, reducing veterinary stress starts long before you arrive at the clinic. By making small adjustments at home, you protect your cat’s emotional health—and keep your own stress levels low, too.

Summer is gone, but parasite risks aren’t. Fleas, ticks, and other parasites can stay active well past the first cool snap. Here’s what to watch for this fall season:

Did you know? Young horses going into their first winter have significantly higher energy needs per pound of body weight than mature horses do.🐓

Growing horses are doing two things at once: maintaining body temperature in cooling weather and continuing to develop bone, muscle, and connective tissue. Both of those things require fuel, and the nutritional gap between what pasture and hay provide and what a growing horse actually needs can widen quickly once temperatures drop.

Weanlings and yearlings that look fine in October can lose ground fast in November and December if their feed program isn't keeping up with demand. 🌾

Fall is here! šŸ‚šŸ¾

There is something so quietly powerful about an older dog just taking it all in. Those grey muzzles have seen things, loved deeply, and shown up every single day without fail.

October is a great reminder to slow down and cherish every single walk. 🧔
