I’M BACK TO FULL-TIME PET SITTING!

Please don’t leave your dog with someone without a secure yard.

My yards are yards within yards. So unless your dog can go over a 6-foot fence multiple times at lightning speed, they can’t escape. Yes, I had a German Shepherd do it once so I know it can be done that way. 🤦‍♀️😂 So your dog can clear multiple 6’ fences, it’s important that you let me know.

But I’ll warn you… my house can be a lot if your dog is a little chicken. 🤪

I have cats, turkeys, chickens, a pig, tortoises, and other dogs, plus new sights, smells and sounds they may have never experienced before.

And honestly, that’s a good thing.

Exposure to new things helps dogs become more confident and learn that the strange things around them aren’t necessarily scary.

So don’t judge your dog by their first few visits. They may not love it here at first. They may be nervous or overwhelmed by all the new animals, noises, smells and activity.

But by the third or fourth time, they usually start to figure out that all those weird noises and critters aren’t so scary after all.

Sometimes being a little uncomfortable is how they learn to be brave. 🩷

For the last year and a half, I’ve put so much more of my time and energy into rescue work that I haven’t posted nearly as much about my pet sitting.

But I decided last night that it’s time to put more energy back into 29 Palms Critter Sitter and the pets who have been such a big part of my life over the years.

So you’ll probably be seeing a lot more pet-sitting posts from me again. I’ve missed sharing little pieces of my life, and there are a LOT of stories, faces, and memories that deserve to be shared. 🩷

The hardest part about being a pet sitter isn’t the long days, the messes, or the crazy schedules. It’s loving them. 🩷

Some of these dogs become a little part of my everyday life. I watch them, care for them, spoil them, and somehow they become family. And then one day, they either move away and I don’t get to see them anymore, or I have to say goodbye forever. 💔

Sir Gronk was one of those dogs. For 10 years and 8 months, I got to know that little sassy, opinionated face. He had something to say about everything, and I’m going to miss that attitude more than I can put into words.

Being a pet sitter means getting attached, even when you know there’s eventually going to be a goodbye. And that’s the part nobody really talks about. 😭

Run free, Sir Gronk. You were loved, and you’ll always be a part of my life. 🐾💗🌈

And I realize this post is a little overdue. For the last year and a half, I’ve put so much more of my time and energy into rescue work that I haven’t posted nearly as much about my pet sitting.

🚨 URGENT — PLEASE HELP US FIND ZIPPY! 🚨

Zippy is missing in 29 Palms and we desperately need everyone’s help finding her.

Zippy is a Rescue Lyfe dog who we trapped years ago, worked with, and found her a loving adoptive home. She is now missing after escaping from Desert Dogs board & train ILLEGAL facility (According to SB Animal Control) off Morongo Road, next to the Marine Base gate in 29 Palms on Monday at approximately 9:00 AM.

⚠️ Zippy escaped with BOTH her leash and muzzle still attached.

💔 There have been NO confirmed sightings since Monday morning.

Because of her history, she may be frightened and extremely difficult to approach. PLEASE DO NOT CHASE HER OR TRY TO CATCH HER. If you see her, keep your distance and immediately contact us with her exact location and direction of travel.

🙏🏻 WE NEED EVERYONE IN 29 PALMS AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS TO SHARE THIS.

Please check:
• Yards
• Fenced properties
• Garages & sheds
• Desert areas
• Washes and places a frightened dog could hide

Even if you think someone else has already reported a sighting, PLEASE REPORT IT AGAIN. Every piece of information could help us figure out where she is.

We have done ALL the things, signs everywhere, talked to what few neighbors we can out there, posted online, animal trapper helping, reported to animal control and the police plus the owner slept out in the desert last night.

We are trying to find someone nearby that could help with a drone.

We are asking for people to help us look!!!

Ember needs a foster of her own 🩷

Ember is one of the 9 dogs from the Salton Sea. I’m currently fostering her with her sister, but they now need separate environments.

Ember’s story is one of survival. She fought for every scrap of food she could find, and during her first few days of rescue, we found plastic and other things in what these dogs had eaten simply because they were starving.

In just 6 days, Ember has gained significant weight and is starting to look like a healthy puppy. She has energy now. She’s discovering toys, learning to play, and showing us the happy puppy hiding underneath everything she’s been through. 🥹

But her sister is still extremely emaciated and incredibly weak. She needs quiet, uninterrupted rest to heal.

Now that Ember has energy, she’s becoming a little too much for her sister. She is also understandably protective of food and water after everything she has survived.

They need separate foster homes.

Ember needs someone who will teach her that she doesn’t have to fight for food anymore. That meals will always come. Water will always be there. She’ll have a soft bed, toys, love, and people she can trust.

She’s approximately 3 months old and a Shepherd/Husky mix. She does well with other dogs and is learning so much already.

A foster-to-adopt home would be amazing. 🩷

Coyote Attack 😭

Rescue Lyfe got a call about a Border Collie puppy, approximately 6 months old, who had been attacked by a coyote DAYS ago and left untreated here in 29 Palms. 😳💔 I went and picked her up.

The people who lived at the property moved out and left her and her sister behind. 💔 Rescue Lyfe now has both girls.

Neighbors heard screaming and ran outside, only to find a coyote dragging this poor baby away by her neck. 😭 I was also told their mom was killed by coyotes.

Ivy is all cleaned up from her attack. She’s on antibiotics now.

But I want to use Ivy’s story as an awareness post, because this is happening far too often.

Ivy was attacked in 29 Palms. When I got to Veg, I had to wait a long time because two other dogs were there being treated for coyote attacks — also from 29 Palms. 😳

Ivy is only 18 pounds, and a single coyote was literally strong enough to drag her away by her neck.

The other two victims were Dachshunds. Sadly, one of them didn’t make it. 💔

Just a couple weeks ago one of my clients lost their dog to a coyote.

Please, please don’t let your dogs outside alone — even in your own yard. Coyotes are out there, and they can move incredibly fast. Small dogs are especially vulnerable.

Ivy was lucky. ❤️‍🩹

Please keep an eye on your babies. A backyard is not always a safe place. 🐾💔

Every. Single. Morning. 🤣

At exactly 6:00 a.m., my alarm clock comes with four legs and weighs about 120 pounds.

Instead of barking or jumping on the bed, my Great Dane stands at my feet and gently rubs against them until I start petting him... with my feet.

Apparently that’s his official “Good morning. Breakfast isn’t going to serve itself.” routine.

He won’t give up until I get out of bed, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Anyone else have a dog with a hilarious morning routine? Let’s hear it!

Belgian Malinois Puppy Update!

These two beautiful girls are searching for their forever families.

At Rescue Lyfe, our goal is always to place puppies directly into their permanent homes whenever possible. We want to avoid them bouncing from foster home to foster home, especially with an intelligent, loyal, and active breed like the Belgian Malinois. These early months are incredibly important for building trust, confidence, and lifelong bonds with their families.

After recovering from a significant worm infestation, they’re still putting a little weight back on, but they’re doing wonderfully and are ready to find the families they’ve been waiting for.
