⚡ We had a “shockingly” great time at our CE event last night!

We had the pleasure of connecting with our Las Vegas veterinary community to discuss electrochemotherapy (ECT) and how this exciting treatment option can benefit pets battling cancer. 🐾

A huge THANK YOU to our wonderful referring veterinary community for joining us, asking questions, and continuing to explore new ways to provide the best possible care for our patients!

Meet Pepper! 🐾💛

This beautiful girl received her first ECT (electrochemotherapy) treatment today at our Las Vegas office!

Pepper was diagnosed with a Grade 2 soft tissue sarcoma on her left hind limb, just above her paw. Surgery was performed to remove the mass, but because of its location, clean margins (the amount of tissue surrounding the tumor that is free of cancer cells) could not be achieved.

Luckily for Pepper, this made her a great candidate for ECT!

During ECT, chemotherapy is administered while the patient is under anesthesia. A specialized probe then delivers brief electrical pulses to the treatment area, temporarily making the cells more permeable. This allows the chemotherapy to enter those cells more effectively and become concentrated within them — providing targeted treatment right where it’s needed.

ECT can be a great option for targeting microscopic cancer cells left behind after surgery, especially in areas where removing additional tissue would be difficult. Our goal for Pepper is to achieve good local control to slow down any possible recurrence of the tumor, and keep this sweet girl happy and comfortable! 💕

We are excited to announce our Veterinary Cancer Group of La Mesa location. Please meet our newest Dr. Tojak Kozak. Dr. Tokaj Kozak was born and raised in Edmonton, AB, Canada. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from St. George’s University in Grenada in the West Indies and completed her 3-year medical oncology residency at Iowa State University before joining Veterinary Cancer Group.
Dr. Kozak loves being a support system for owners and their furry family members and truly enjoys building long-term bonds with them. She also is a treat enthusiast and loves the opportunity to feed cats Churu and dogs’ other tasty snacks! Dr. Tokaj Kozak and her team are now accepting new patients and cannot wait to meet your beloved furry family members.
