🎂🐾 ONE BIRTHDAY WISH: A FAMILY OF HIS OWN! 🐾🎂

Oakley turns 4 in November, and we would love to see him celebrate in a forever home! ❤️ We know his family is out there—please help us find them by sharing!

This handsome boy is ready for adventures, couch time, and a family to love. 🥰

💙 Turning 4 in November
✅ Neutered and up to date on vaccinations
👧 Good with children
🐶 Good with other dogs
🚫 Needs a home without cats
🏡 Had NO potty accidents during his recent home trial!
🎉 Fully sponsored adoption fee—$0 with an approved application!

Oakley loves our volunteers and his all-day “dog dates,” but we’re hoping his next outing leads him HOME. ❤️

He can jump a small fence, so he needs a tall, secure fence or a family committed to keeping him safely leashed outdoors.

📞 Call Douglas County Animal Shelter at 217-253-4921 to schedule a meet and greet!

🎁 Help us give Oakley the best birthday gift: a family of his own. Please share! 💛🐾

🐾🥔 Meet Tater Tot! 🥔🐾

This handsome English Bulldog turned 1 in August and is looking for a forever family! Tater Tot came to DCAS through an owner surrender, and now he’s ready for his next chapter. ❤️

Here’s what to know about his future home:

🐶 If you have other dogs, a meet and greet is required to make sure they’re a good match.
🏡 He needs a home with no small children.
🩺 His neuter is scheduled, and he’ll be able to go home tomorrow following his surgery.

Interested in adding this little spud to your family? Call DCAS at 217-253-4921 to learn more about Tater Tot and our adoption process! 🐾

🐾 So much to be grateful for! ❤️ Our renovations at Douglas County Animal Shelter have given us so much to celebrate! These improvements mean a better place for the animals in our care and a welcoming space for the community that supports them.

To everyone who helped make these renovations possible—thank you! Whether you contributed, worked on the project, volunteered, or supported us through the transition, we are incredibly grateful. Thank you, too, for your patience as we navigated temporary locations and changing routines.

Looking around our shelter, we see a community that cares. Every animal who comes through our doors will benefit from that kindness. 🐶🐱🏡

The Douglas County Animal Shelter is back open at its original location.
