Our mission is to provide resources, programs, and information needed to build a more humane community that values animals and promotes compassion and kindness towards them, embraces responsible pet ownership, and promotes the animal/human bond. Our vision is to inspire community involvement

in animal welfare and motivate the public to embrace responsible lifelong pet ownership. This page is solely run by the director and managers of Metro Animal Shelter. 🚨 EMERGENCY BOTTLE BABY FOSTER NEEDED 🚨

This tiny kitten needs a foster home ASAP. 🍼💔

He’s all alone and still requires bottle feeding and specialized care. Bottle babies are among the most vulnerable animals in our shelter, and a foster home can truly mean the difference between life and death.

What does caring for a bottle baby involve?
🍼 Bottle feeding every 2–4 hours (depending on age)
🌡️ Keeping the kitten warm and comfortable
🧻 Stimulating them to urinate and defecate after feedings
⚖️ Monitoring weight and appetite daily
❤️ Providing lots of love, patience, and attention

Don’t worry—you don’t need prior experience! We’ll provide instructions, support, and supplies (as available) to help you succeed.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, this tiny baby needs you now.

📩 Message us or contact the shelter immediately if you can help.
One tiny kitten. One foster. One chance. 🐾💕

Meet Elsie, the 4‑year‑old, 50‑lb sweetheart who has been with TMAS since 1/31/2026 and is so ready for her forever family.

Her foster says:

“She’s such a sweet girl and so loving. She’s potty trained, good with most dogs, not a big fan of cats, and definitely a couch potato. She follows me everywhere — we’re having a great time!”

Elsie is the perfect mix of mellow and affectionate — the kind of dog who just wants to be near her people. After months of waiting, she deserves a home that sees how special she is.

If you’re looking for a loyal shadow, a snuggle buddy, and a gentle soul, Elsie is your girl.

🌴🐾 TMAS is all set up at Mojitopalooza! 🐾🌴

We’re here at The Sanctuary on 25th and officially ready for an amazing afternoon!

The music is rolling with DJ Kutz, the Tito’s drinks are flowing (remember — proceeds from every Tito’s Handmade Vodka drink support TMAS), and the vibes are absolutely perfect. MARV is up, our team is here, and we’re excited to meet everyone who stops by.

If you’re nearby, come hang out with us, enjoy the sunshine, grab a drink that helps the animals, and celebrate with this incredible community.

We’re here and ready for you 💛🐶

🚨We Need Our Community Right Now 🚨

In just the last 7 days, more than 65 stray animals have come through our doors.
Sixty‑five.
Our shelter simply cannot continue to house this many animals — not safely, not humanely, and not for long.

Every kennel is full. Every staff member is stretched. Every animal deserves better than a crowded shelter can offer.

🐾 If you are missing a pet, please come NOW.

We are begging owners to come reclaim immediately.
Do a full walk‑through — don’t rely on photos alone. Animals come in scared, dirty, or looking different than they did at home. Already checked ? We get in new animals hourly, check again!

Stray animals are not available for adoption until they’ve been with us for at least 7 days, but…

❤️ YOU can still help today.

We desperately need fosters for our already adoptable animals so we can free up cages for the nonstop stream of incoming strays.

• Make sure you have a foster application or adoption application on file at metroanimalshelter.org
• Then stop by or give us a call
• We provide foster supplies as long as we have them available
• Even a short‑term foster saves a life

🆘 This is an all‑hands‑on‑deck moment.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering…
If you’ve ever wanted to help…
If you’ve ever shared our posts but haven’t taken the next step…

Now is the time.

Our animals — and our entire shelter — need you.
