🩷 Introducing Pearl 🩷

Pearl is a beautiful and energetic 11 month old Bull Terrier. She is currently enrolled in our on-leash obedience program, and her goals are to stop nipping, manage jumping, to not bully her dachshund sisters, and learn basic obedience commands plus leave it.

We are so excited to have Pearl and her owners in our program, and we cannot wait to help and see her progress!

Cocoa has been loving sharing her toys with her baby sister. 🐶👶 She can't wait till she'll be able to throw the toys. Sugar was supervising and giving out kisses till she fell asleep. 😅

It took a lot of training/desensitization to get to this point of trust. I did a lot of messing with their ears, paws, face, tail, and dressing them up or putting clothes/towels on them. Mostly because I wanted them to be confident in different situations, but also because I didn't want to have to constantly worry about them when they were around babies/kids, especially for when I had my own. Of course I watch them when they are around kids/children, and I don't leave them alone with my daughter. (Also, it is important to mention that boundaries for both kids and dogs are SO important!). At the end of the day, dogs are animals and can be unpredictable no matter their age, breed, or how much training they have had. However, you can help prepare your dog for certain situations. For instance most dogs need their nails done so you can mess with their paws or hold their paws to help prepare them for it. I could continue on as there are so many different instances desensitization can help with, but I'll stop here for now.

🎆 Happy 4th of July! 🎆

‼️ Remember to keep your pets inside as fireworks can make them nervous! Make sure your pet's microchip is registered to you and updated, in case they do get out. Also, that they have a collar on with an id tag (with updated information).

Tips to help with your pet's anxiety/nerves:

✨️ Tire them out beforehand by talking a walk, going to the park, or doing an enrichment activity

✨️ Drown out the noise of the fireworks with classical music, white noise, or a movie/dog tv

✨️ Invest in a thundershirt or learn how to make your own using bandage wrap

✨️ Offer an enrichment activity while fireworks are going on, like a lickmat with peanut butter, plain greek yogurt, applesauce, or baby food

🎉🎓 We have a graduate!!! 🎓🎉

Marley graduated from our on-leash basic obedience program! He did his field trip at Snow Hinton Park, and did great. He even got some loving! He has accomplished so much from knowing his obedience commands, no longer being scared of walking across hardwood floors, being able to pass cats and dogs on walks with no problem, being muzzle trained, and to being okay with people going upstairs in his home.

Congratulations to Marley and his family!! It was a pleasure to get to know and help Marley and his family, and I wish them the best! ❤️

🌸 Introducing Maggie 🌸

Maggie is an energetic and outgoing 4 month old Goldendoodle. She has already started our on-leash obedience program, and her goals are to stop the puppy nipping, manage jumping, learn how to properly act/play with her todder best friend, as well as learn leash manners.

Biscuit had a field trip to Home Depot a couple of weeks ago. He did great, especially since it was his first time in a store! His next field trip will be at a smaller, busier store like a Ross or TJ Maxx.
